The following case was selected for presentation at the 2026 USAFP Annual Conference.

This month’s spotlight highlights a rare and readiness‑relevant GLP‑1 RA adverse effect: prolonged semaglutide‑associated allodynia. Shortly after dose escalation, the patient developed severe skin sensitivity and myalgias that peaked within 24 hours of each injection and persisted between doses. Despite the discomfort, she continued therapy — and her symptoms ultimately resolved after 18 months, far longer than the 4‑month recovery described in prior published cases.

With GLP‑1 RA use rising across the Military Health System, this case underscores the importance of recognizing uncommon adverse effects, setting realistic expectations, and supporting patients through prolonged symptom courses to maintain readiness and patient‑centered care.

✨ Research Mondays | 60th MDG — Travis AFB, CA ✨
** The following research was selected among the Top 12 abstracts and presented at the 2026 USAFP Annual Conference **

This month’s spotlight features a sharp diagnostic reminder from Travis AFB: a pulmonary embolism that turned out not to be a PE. A post‑CABG patient repeatedly showed the same LUL pulmonary artery filling defect on CTPA—despite a negative D‑dimer and persistent symptoms after anticoagulation. Further workup revealed an exceptionally rare LIMA‑to‑LAD‑to‑PA fistula mimicking PE on imaging.
