Guess what? VPM is bound for downtown! We are building a new, state-of-the-art headquarters on E. Broad Street in Historic Monroe Ward in the heart of downtown Richmond.
The headquarters will be located at what is now 13-17 E. Broad St., between N. First and Foushee streets, with frontage on both Broad and E. Grace streets. The move will make VPM’s news and content production operations more accessible to the public, creating a platform for in-person civic engagement and programming. The five-story, 53,700-sq. foot facility will feature multiple studios for audio, television and digital content production, as well as a street-level community studio and event space equipped to host audiences for broadcast events and other live experiences. #myvpm #vpm #virginia #richmond by @myvpm

Virginia and Chesterfield County officials are scrambling for a solution for an environmental mess created by the Shoosmith landfill. The Department of Environmental Quality says it’ll take 30 years — and $173 million — to clean the site. But officials are left with carrying out the dirty work now that the site is in Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Lord Dunmore’s Proclamation was one of the most disruptive moments of the Revolutionary War in Virginia. By offering freedom to enslaved Black people owned by Patriots who joined the British side, it changed the nature of the war and revealed the limits of revolutionary ideals in a slaveholding society.

Honoring more than a century of Richmond history. VPM recently unveiled a replication of the mural that once graced Waller & Company Jewelers, one of the nation’s oldest Black-owned jewelry businesses, at our new Downtown Richmond headquarters. The replication helps preserve the legacy of a cherished Richmond institution for generations to come.

Boston-based design firm MASS was chosen Friday to design a public art installation with the bronze from the Market Street Park Robert E. Lee statue. MASS’s proposal will turn the melted down statue into a 27-foot baobab – commonly known as the “Tree of Life.”

Charlottesville is celebrating 50 years of its Downtown Mall. It was one of many similar walking malls built during the ‘60s and ‘70s, but it’s only one of a few that still survive today.
