Fall break with my boy was very chill and it was cool to see the @pacerssportsent screening of Coco at such a grand scale on the jumbotron.

One of the things I’ve appreciated most about working on this project with GANGGANG and the Indianapolis Indians is the opportunity to help tell a story that was already here, but that many of us, especially our youth, are still discovering.

My role has been about connecting all the moving pieces and bringing together the history, places, and voices that show why Black baseball is such a foundational part of Indianapolis culture.

A core focus of this work is ensuring our youth are exposed to this history early on so the next generation can see themselves reflected in this legacy.

Along the way, I’ve learned so much myself, from the groundbreaking role women played in the Indianapolis Clowns to the powerful ways sports can preserve history and unite communities.

I am truly proud to help bridge these stories for our city and ensure our youth grow up celebrating this rich heritage. by @mywidelens

Did you know that October is Youth Justice Action Month?

This year’s YJAM theme is Building a Future Where Youth Thrive. Which means it’s time to invest in things like community-building, mentorship, mental health supports and making sure that all young people have their basic needs met.

“What do you even do?”
“I always see you out and about, I can’t keep up with what you’re doing…”

Short answer: Fight to give young people the best opportunity to be great and reach their dreams

That’s all I’ve ever wanted. For 25 years, healthy development of youth has been my north star and the past 10 years I have been doing my part to make sure young people, especially Black boys, are equipped to thrive into adulthood.

When we invest in education, mentorship, workforce development, and opportunities for young people to lead, we aren’t just supporting individual youth, we’re strengthening entire communities.

Sometimes people just need help understanding their rights and a person that would stand with them against a system that was designed to oppress them.

My role today gives me the opportunity to be that, take the voices and experiences of youth into spaces that aren’t used to hearing real life impact. taken in Naptown USA by @mywidelens
