Raising funds for my short film “Out of the Valley” (yay independent film making! Gofundme link in bio)
I have already put my own money towards the film, and I’m committed to making it (anyone need their grass cut or dryer fixed?? Hit me up!)
I am in the pre-preproduction stage… the above is a mood board for the film (not my photographs OBVIOUSLY)
It’s a fictional short film set in rural Appalachia. It follows Leeann, a woman who has become isolated from herself and the world around her, and a mysterious young girl she meets in the woods.
All money will go towards making the film: crew, equipment, location, food, insurance, etc.
if you would like to donate, I’d be incredibly grateful. Any amount helps. Thank you to all the folks out there willing to help independent artists by @mzironside

* incoming rant * Every August thousands of Purple Martins roost downtown Nashville at sundown….. A pit stop while migrating back to South America for the winter. It’s breathtaking to watch. Every year I am amazed at how many people walk by this spectacular show and pay them no mind whatsoever. Some people even get upset. It’s mind boggling to me. Volunteers are there every evening monitoring and making sure no one causes these birds any harm ( another reason I find myself embarrassed to be human) Purple Martins have adapted to benefit from living in close proximity to people and are highly reliant on urban settings…. They will be roosting for another week or less. You should go watch and have a chat with the volunteers that are there. Korean Veterans Blvd between 6th and Rep John Lewis. ♥️ by @mzironside

I spotted these two nestled in a rose bush yesterday while I was cutting the grass. Baby Cardinals. I immediately turned off my lawn mower, selfishly grabbed this video, and then fucked off. I didn’t want to stress them out anymore than I already had. The grass can wait until they are old enough to make it on their own. Mom and Dad were keeping a close eye on me from the fence. Even though they have gotten used to me being around, this time I was a little too close for their comfort. Cardinal couples stick together for life and these two have had a rough go of it lately. Storms have been doozies all summer. Last month I found one of their babies expired in the grass. I chose to bury it in my flower garden and I cried when I marked it’s small grave with a stone. I visit that stone every day. I think about my Grandad every time I see a Cardinal. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because they stand out, unapologetically, with their bright red feathers. My Grandad was the best man I’ve ever known. Kind, strong, funny, smart. Intentional with everything that he did. A giant monolith of a human being composed of quiet unwavering love. At his funeral a lone bagpiper played a requiem in his name from the parking lot. My Grandad set the bar very high for me, which has been both a blessing and a curse in my life. Sometimes I wonder if I fool myself into believing in fairytales because I can’t help but compare the whole world to him. And the level of cruelty out there right now is so beyond my comprehension, it feels like I can’t breathe. But then I stumble across a couple of fairytales in a rose bush….. and my thoughts get redirected back to love. To kindness. To service. To my Grandad. by @mzironside
