💜🕊️ Heavy Hearts | Mother’s Passing 🕊️💜

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gwendolyn (Gwen Wright) Ross, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

She was the heart of our family—a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh, generous spirit, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness will live on in the countless lives she touched.

We invite all who knew and loved her to join us as we celebrate her beautiful life.

All I want for my 46th birthday is a PB&J sandwich 🥪❤️

If you know my mother, you know her signature dish: Skippy peanut butter, Welch’s grape jelly, on white bread. Growing up, PB&J was a staple. I’m the oldest, and there was a time when it was just me and her. We’re both picky eaters, so whenever we went places and I wouldn’t eat what was there, she always made sure I had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches so I’d never go hungry.

Today, I made one of those sandwiches. And I’ll be honest, it wasn’t that bad. It’s been years since I’ve eaten white bread or commercial peanut butter and jelly. You know… I’m bougie now 😌artisan bread, natural peanut butter, fresh-made jam. But sitting here, at home, eating this sandwich with my family, I knew this was exactly what I needed.

The PB&J was a staple growing up, made with love so I’d always have something to eat. Sitting here eating it today reminded me that comfort, family, and love matter more than anything else.

A bitter sweet occasion brought me back to my alma mater - HARTFORD CT.

I am here celebrating the home going of one of the most amazing Nupes and Brother of Nu Psi Khapter of KAPsi Fraternity, Inc. - Mike Harris.

Mike not only taught me to recite Invictus, but he taught its meaning and it’s importance in my life as I was becoming a man. A lesson I have never gotten. “I AM the Master of my fate. I AM the Kaptain of my soul.” We will forever miss you Mike. 🙏🏾

🎉 Today I celebrate my 45th birthday—a monumental year of life, growth, and gratitude! 🙌🏾 This year is especially meaningful as I step into it in full health following my kidney transplant and the support of so many incredible people.

To guide me through this year, I’ve created a powerful affirmation: Life moves in my favor, and everything works on my behalf. I accomplish my goals with pride, courage, and ease. Abundance flows to me, my health is immaculate, and my future is filled with endless fulfillment.

Today marks a monumental milestone in my life—six months since my double kidney transplant!

After living with chronic kidney disease for 19 years, I’ve made it through the most critical phase of recovery and have been given a clean bill of health. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel. The fact that I received two kidneys from a 3-year-old angel from New Jersey is nothing short of a miracle. And yes, I now carry four kidneys in total since my original two were not removed—another reminder of the incredible power of life and second chances.

To anyone currently battling kidney disease or waiting for a transplant—stay strong, follow your medical team’s advice, and never give up hope. I see you, I’m rooting for you, and I know how tough it can be. There is a path forward—keep fighting for your health and for your chance at a new life.

Transplants are not guaranteed, and the need far outweighs the number of available donors, especially in our Black community. I want to encourage everyone to consider becoming an organ donor. Your gift could be the miracle someone else is waiting for. It was someone’s selfless decision that saved my life, and I believe we all have the power to create those same miracles for others.
