POSTS STORIES REELS

I don’t necessarily know how to start off this year’s birthday post. Thirty is a big year and I have been blessed to have been given these thirty years. Truly blessed. Not just a live laugh love “I’m blessed!”, but a real and undeniable blessing. Thirty years ago today God breathed the first breath I would take into my lungs. I don’t have any memories of that day obviously, but what I know without needing a memory was that I was held for the first time by the most incredible woman to ever live. Thirty years ago, she sat in a hospital bed, absolutely worn out, holding me and calming me down. Again, I wasn’t there, but I know that there was always only one person that could calm me down no matter how intensely I felt an emotion.

I’m in rare form this year and am posting more than usual, but May has just been too cool of a month not to post about.

For starters my mom hit the big 65 on May 2nd and celebrating her is always the best! You’ll see some pictures of her and I at the immersive Titanic experience. Neither of us survived, but we did conclude that both Rose and Jack could have fit on the door, so we’ll be sending our thoughts to James Cameron soon.

Then I got to go an NBA game for the first time thanks to Ben and that was absolutely bonkers. (Even though it was a blowout) Also to the guy that sat behind me and yelled with so much anger about everything, but truly didn’t know anything about basketball (like literally knew nothing); you are on my list forever. I know The Lord and psychology tell us to forgive, but that guy is an exception

And finally, I took a day trip to New York City and watched my uncle on Broadway, which was incredible! My uncle gave an outstanding performance and it was the perfect show to see for my first ever broadway show. I also ate at some bomb places and got to see some super cool stuff. I did learn that I am not built for NYC though. I was there from 9A-7:45P and in that time I gave money to a man that put a bracelet on my wrist and demanded money, donated to a rapper that said he was raising money for shoes, and told at least 6 shops I would probably come back later because I didn’t want to hurt their feelings. Needless to say it has been an awesome May. Thanks for tuning in y’all! by @n_z73

I’ve now hit 29 years on this lovely planet we call earth. Still feels like my early 20’s were only a couple of years ago, but then I remember that one of my knees hurts when the weather changes, I can’t eat whatever I want and stay in shape, I’ve found a few gray hairs on the back of my head, and I now think about things before I do them instead of just sending it. Overall though, early 20’s Nick never would have thought I could be where I am today, so I guess this getting older thing isn’t too bad after all. Here are some updates in my life. Some are incredible, some are not so incredible, but all are part of the will God has for me and those that I love.

- I am currently in the midst of buying a house! (Something, if I’m being honest, I worried I would never be able to do)

- I just got back from an amazing trip to Disney with my family

- Took my cat to the vet recently and he is as healthy as a cat can be

- I recently discovered I like fish and am trying new fish when I get the chance (spent most of my life thinking I didn’t like fish)

- I’ve been getting increasingly better at my job, which will eventually open up som great opportunities

- My mom was cancer free for about 6 months, but her cancer has now resurfaced. This is not all bad though, because we now know that her cancer is platinum sensitive, but needs a different partner drug to fend it off longer. Ovarian has a VERY high return rate, but as long as the concoction works well at fending it off, people can live a fairly normal and full life while fighting it off every year or two.

I am quite a bit late at posting this, but if you know anything about me, it’s that I’m not always great at posting on social media. 😅 The above pictures are just some fun looks into the past year.

•20 years ago on October 11th a death shook our family
•1 year ago on October 11th a cancer diagnosis shook our family
•20 years later our family lives in celebration of the life my dad lived
•1 year later my mom has beaten stage 4 ovarian cancer AND has the best attitude of us all

I was raised in a household that was full of love and closeness. Some of the fondest memories I have were coming home on summer nights after a long day of playing in the sun, washing off the dirt from the day (shoutout to small town kids that wore no shoes constantly and built mud castles for fun), putting on one of my moms old t-shirts, waiting patiently for my mom to finish dinner, knowing we’d all go to the living room after to watch movies together. I can remember the windows would often be open inviting the summer breeze to come in and move about. I would lay on the floor right in front of our tv with a pillow, my sister right next to me in the same way. My mom and dad on the couch behind us and my grandparents in their chairs on either side of the couch. These memories bring feelings of warmth and safety. Don’t you sometimes wish you could view the world as a kid does, but like forever? As an adult I now know there were obvious issues going on around me back then, but I didn’t see it, I only saw love (and some annoyance from my older sister, but that’s par for the course). I attribute that now, as an adult looking back, to two things; the home my mom created and the love my God had for me. I also now realize that those two things are the reason I am still standing here today. (Go to comments to keep reading) by @n_z73

You did chemo, you whooped that cancers butt, and you rung that bell. I could go on for paragraphs about how strong you are and how proud of you I am, but I don’t think there are enough words in the English language to truly display just how strong you are, so I’ll keep it short.

In less than a year, you got diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, got two extremely invasive surgeries, went through 6 months of chemo, and you, as you always do, handled every step of this process with grace, positivity, and faith. You fought hard, laughed at yourself a lot, knitted & crocheted enough to fill a bunker, and most of all, never fell into self pity, (and you had every right too) you just kept on pushing along. I aspire to be even half the person you are, mom. I love you with everything I am. Now let’s get ready for the Ren Faire in the fall and Disney in the Winter! ❤️ by @n_z73

Another year, another birthday post. 27 was packed with more lessons, trials, breakthroughs, and great times than I think any year prior. I learned quite a bit along the way. Here what I learned:

- Evian and Fiji water are the best brands of water
- Disney World is a seriously incredible place
- God really is good. Not just the cliche Christian saying. Legitimately, God is so good. In the light and in the dark, in the valley and on the peak, in health and in sickness; God is good
- If there is a part of your life that you haven’t given to God, just give it up to him already. Watch your life change. Seriously, don’t take my word for it, see it for yourself, and just do it
- Let go of your past mistakes. I cannot express this enough. It was your past. Paul murdered 1000’s, yet God used him to save more than he ever killed. Forgive yourself and let go
- Keep good people around. Life can go south real quick and when it does, it is crucial that you have the right people around (go to comments if you’d like to read the rest) by @n_z73

Joyful, caring, selfless, intentional, strong, optimistic, fighter, thoughtful, resolute, brave, leader, talented, determined, intelligent, warm, kind, comfortable, funny, loving. These are a few of the many words I could use to describe the woman I call my mother. The woman that walked me through losing my father at 8 years old, never disregarding me because of the pain she felt for losing her husband. The woman that stuck by me when I was a rebellious and angry teenager. The woman that sat with me when I hurt and cheered with me when I succeeded. The woman that time and time again gave parts of herself to fill the holes in others. The woman that has been through more than anyone I know, yet handles it all with grace and sanguinity. The woman that now faces her greatest battle yet, still manages to find immeasurable joy and grit. Joy and grit are not two things that get along well usually, but somehow, she makes them the best of friends with every battle she faces. Cancer hits hard, but my mom hits harder. Let’s go beat some cancer cell butt mom. Love you more than you will ever know. by @n_z73

Once again, I have come out of the shadows to bestow upon all of you the wisdom I have acquired after another year of life on this planet.

It is now year 27 and I am still waiting for the growth spurt everyone else hit in middle school. I know it will come one day, but for now, here are some pointers for life from your friendly neighborhood short guy:

1. People mess up. Forgive them. Nothing complicated. Just forgive.
2. Eat breakfast. I never do and always wish I had when I’m so hungry at 10A I want to throw up
3. Tell people you love them as often as you can. Cliche, but life is a crazy thing and you always want people to know you love them
4. Put your dang phone down and really take in the moments you’re in. I cannot stress this enough. God made moments so beautiful for a reason and at the end of your life, you’re not gonna remember the things you saw on your phone or social media, you’re gonna remember the moments you had and the people you had them with
5. Have hard conversations when they need to happen. Those are the conversations that cause growth. They’re uncomfortable, but they are make or break conversations.
6. Keep an open mind. People have opinions. They’re entitled to those opinions. You’re not entitled to change those opinions. You don’t have to like the opinion, but that doesn’t mean you need to make a scene. Disagree, and move on.
7. Mainly for all my bros: let people rant. Everything doesn’t always need to be fixed. (This is preaching to myself mostly)
8. If you find a good sparkling water flavor, don’t let that stuff out of your sight. Not all of them are good and when there’s a good one, you really have to latch on to that.
9. Have fun. That’s simple. A life without fun is a terrible life.
10. My final point; love without restriction. The world is so divided right now because so many have began to look at why they don’t like someone or something before they even begin to think of ways they can serve and love that person. Once again, you don’t have to agree with someone and their way of life to love them and want the best for them. Everyone deserves to be loved, cared for, and prayed for.

Thanks for reading y’all. See ya again next year. by @n_z73

Fathers Day doesn’t have to be hard by @n_z73

26 years

I am now in my late mid 20’s and over these years I’ve learned a few things that I feel would be useful. So here is my old man wisdom:

- Don’t eat yellow snow. Most know this, but it’s still a good one to throw in there
- If you see a cat or dog, pet it
- Your metabolism does slow down after 24, so live up the days when that’s not an issue
- Don’t sleep on your stomach. It’s actually horrible for your lower back
- Wake up to the first alarm you set. David rose early when he defeated Goliath
- Listen to advice from people that know more than you about something. You don’t have all the answers; nobody does
- Ask questions when in the presence of someone with a lot of life behind them
- Be quiet and listen. You’ll have your time to speak
- If someone truly wants the best for you, they will challenge and push you. This will for sure make you angry and uncomfortable sometimes. Keep those people around though. Complacency kills purpose
- Forgive truly and quickly. Life is to short and valuable to hold grudges and have strife
- Read your Bible, never let your praying knees get lazy, and chase God with relentless pursuit. I am here, now, only by the guidance and grace of God
- Always let those you love know you’re proud of them and you love them. Life is an unpredictable thing and you never know when God will call someone home
- If you’re running from something; quit. Turn around, face it head on, and know that you can and you will come out on the other side. God will be with you every step of the way
- God will never do for you what you can do for yourself. Do what you need to do in the physical and let God handle the spiritual
- There is nothing wrong with getting help for mental anguish. God placed people on earth with a specific ability to help those in need of guidance. Get the help you need
- Do all that you do with excellence. Not perfection, but excellence
- Tied into the prior, but needed it’s own point. Perfection is impossible. You will always find yourself coming up short and feeling empty. Quit pursuing it, as no human will ever obtain it

Hello y’all. I know you guys have all been waiting on the edge of your seats since June of last year for me to post again. I know it’s all you’ve thought about since June. I am now here to release you of your waiting.

On a real note, I want to post and say that God is good. I’ve had 25 years of life, a family that loves me, a church that is on a mission to lead everyone we can to the feet of Jesus, a passion to love God and love people, great music, a calling on my life that gives me purpose, a roof over my head, food in my stomach, this cool beanie I’m wearing, great friends, summer nights right around the corner, awesome leaders, a knowledge of myself I never thought I’d find, and most of all a God that loves me beyond measure. A God that loves me enough to have sent his son to earth to die at the hands of man over 2,000 years ago. A God that created me and knitted me specifically as he wanted in my mother’s womb. A God that forgave me for the years I spent far from him. A God that simply just loves me. No catches, no cons, no but’s. Just love. I don’t about you guys, but to me, that is pretty rad. So as for me, life is good and God is good. I Hope life is abundantly joyful for each and everyone of you. Bless y’all. by @n_z73
