✴︎ New single "Weddelli" is out! The sun is back today in Antarctica after six months without it rising above the horizon. I love imagining the feelings this brings to most organisms there. Hope this piece brings us closer to it, in a celebration of all the lives and spirits that inhabit such a place. ✴︎

‘acoustic enrichment waves’
@na.eira.sol

‘On a coral reef just a few metres from where the waves break, the sounds of life abound. The clicking of shrimp claws forms the backdrop for the shrieks, buzzes and grunts of the other organisms. They’re communicating, singing, hunting, or calling for a mate. Increasingly rare, this is the soundscape of a healthy reef - one that has been played back on dead reefs through underwater speakers. Known as Acoustic Enrichment, this ecological restoration technique has drawn fish and other organisms back to these damaged ecosystems. The programme takes this example of sound as a self-regenerating force as its starting point. In a sonic collage weaving together various musical traditions and field recordings, it aims to reactivate the habitats where this broadcast is received. 🐟🔊🌊

Die Welt verändert sich.
Arten verschwinden.

FOGO FÁTUO 🔥 Art in motion

The bagpipe from the northeastern Portugal region, traditionally made from the hide of goats, often uses the entire carcass of the animal to craft the bags. In the Portuguese folklore, there is a clear absence of references to these beings, whom the pipers carry under their arms, both in the lyrics and in the musical elements.

In “Templos ~ Orcas ~ Mimos”, @alakebythemoon seeks to embrace and reconnect with the animal, through a customised synthetic bagpipe, electronic music and field recordings. A ritual about our relationship with neighbouring organisms and their significance.

Not to be missed. ☄️
