It's now been three weeks since we returned from our Jewish-led solidarity mission in Masafer Yatta.In the two weeks we spent with our Palestinian friends, every day brought a new reminder of the relentlessness of Israel's project of ethnic cleansing. From beatings to arson attacks to constructions of new illegal outposts, the communities of Masafer Yatta (and across the West Bank) are subject to permanent cruelties and indignities designed to make life and feelings of safety become impossible.And yet every day was also spent laughing over warak enab and black tea, playing tag with children, drinking far too much coffee and learning that the project of co-resistance is also a project of mutual joy and friendship. In this way, the hospitality we were shown was itself an affirmation of a better world – one after occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing.Amid everything that has been written about the threats facing the people of Masafer Yatta – and the steadfastness they display in their attempts to survive a relentless campaign of state- and settler-backed erasure – we'd like to leave you with this:Nothing that is happening to the West Bank and to Palestine is inevitable. All of these injustices, built by an apartheid state and sustained by the settlers that it empowers, can be undone. Beloved community leader, teacher, and activist, Awdah Hathaleen was shot dead by an Israeli settler in his village of Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta on 28 July 2025.In the year since Awdah’s murder, settler-state violence has been unceasing, the community has endured escalating attempts to deny their children the right to education, water supplies have been repeatedly cut, and homes demolished.To mark one year since his murder, Awdah’s family is calling for people around the world to stand in solidarity with the community of Umm al-Khair – in their mourning and in their calls for justice.Join us on Tuesday 28 July from 5:30pm in Victoria Embankment Gardens as we answer their call and honour Awdah’s memory. #JusticeforAwdah by @naamoduk

🪁 2026 BURIN KITE FESTIVAL: During our global week of action over thirty cities around the world hosted solidarity kite flying events with Burin in over thirty cities and ten countries around the world including the USA, Ireland, Australia, Belgium, England, Scotland, Canada, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. We joined together to stand in tangible solidarity with children, families, and farmers of the northern West Bank in a global expression of co-resistance. Communities around the world also contributed to the cost of transportation for children from the refugees camps of Balata and Tulkarm, and the nearby villages of Madama, Huwara, and Iraq Burin to attend the festival and experience even a moment of laughter, whimsy, creativity, and unfettered joy.Sincere thanks to all the organizers and may the laughter of the children motivate us to deepen our solidarity in the days ahead as we work toward a future beyond occupation, forced transfer, and siege!#UNOCCUPIEDSKIES#BURINISNOTALONE by @naamoduk
