Every Villain Is A Woman Who Said No.

Women are called villains the moment they stop being agreeable.
When they set boundaries.
When they speak up.
When they choose themselves.

This thinkpiece explores how women who don’t fit social norms are framed as “difficult” instead of human.

Read it.

And if this resonates, come find your community at POP! Fest.

A space for women in all their complexity. taken in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by @nabiummo

It’s time to break the spell of harmful norms. 🦋✨ Join us for POP! FEST: True Love, True Change—a full day dedicated to reimagining the stories we were told as children and finding genuine connection, consent, and community.
We aren’t just talking about love; we’re dissecting it, unlearning the toxic parts, and celebrating the growth. 🌱
What to expect:
🗣️ Real Talk: Two deep-dive panels—“Unlearning Love” (from control to connection) and “Heart Strong” (tales of resilience & joy).
🎨 Get Involved: 5+ Interactive workshops, exhibition stations, and art to spark conversation.
⚡ Connect: Youth Speed Networking & Youth-led booths (come meet your people!).
🎤 Vibe: Open Mic sessions, Theatre performances, and the official Pocket Pal Book Launch! 📖
Whether you’re here to heal, learn, or just vibe with the community, there is space for you here. Let’s turn “Once Upon a Time” into “Here and Now.” 💖
🗓 15 February 2026

Can I Ask You A Question: Artist Or Puppet?

Local female artists, indie and mainstream, feel these strings of control.

Visibility comes with fear. Innovation stalls. Bold ideas shrink. Meanwhile, the same tired narratives of women suffering and being saved by men run unchecked on TV.

Art is expression. Fashion, performance, identity, they are all part of it. Policing women for daring to create does not protect morality. It controls voices.

When will Malaysian female artists be allowed to be artists and not puppets?

What do you think? taken in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by @nabiummo
