From the shade of the pavilion, the house is framed across the pool. A lower viewpoint follows the water towards the garden; an elevated view brings the whole arrangement together. For property marketing, a considered sequence of photographs helps explain how the spaces connect, as well as how they look.

A space is also defined by the objects it brings together. Here, sculptural furniture, framed works and warm light create a sequence of textures and silhouettes. Photographing the interior means showing those relationships, from the atmosphere of the room to the detail of a single arrangement.

A library can give a house its most intimate scale. Dark shelving and carefully placed colour create a quiet interior world; beyond it, broad openings and earthy surfaces reconnect the rooms with the landscape. At Sa Guarda, the wider view and the smallest details belong to the same story.

Curved seating and a sculptural stair soften the long lines of this interior. Timber cabinetry connects the dining and bar areas, while broad openings bring the garden into the composition.

A sequence of photographs can explain that continuity more clearly than a single wide view.

The same materials flow naturally from inside to out. Timber beams, soft tones and the long dining table lead towards the shaded terrace, with the garden always present in the background.

At twilight, the windows become the brightest elements in the composition. Warm interiors and their reflections reveal how the rooms sit around the pool, while the planting recedes into silhouette.

This is why a photography commission can benefit from a second reading after sunset.

The terrace works as a room in its own right. A timber roof, woven pendants and built-in seating define a place to gather, while open edges keep the pool and garden in view. The nearby bar extends that social sequence indoors.

Glass opens the living spaces to the sea, while the deep roofline gives the facade a clear horizontal rhythm. Inside, stone, timber and a sculptural stair bring a more intimate scale to the architecture. A sequence from the pool to the interior reveals both sides of the house.

Light enters this living space from two directions: through the tall glazing and from above. The timber ceiling gives the room a strong rhythm, while the pale seating keeps attention on the changing light and garden views.

My task is to make those relationships legible in a photograph.

An entrance begins before the front door. Palm shadows, alternating strips of paving and planting, and a long approach give this arrival its rhythm. Beyond the threshold, white volumes and timber screens frame a different relationship with the garden.

Which reveals more about a home: the approach or the first room?

A garden can shape the experience of a home long before you step inside. Around this pool, low rooflines and shaded porches keep the rooms visually connected to the planting. Inside, timber surfaces and long sightlines continue the story.

The most inviting spaces often sit between indoors and out. Here, a shaded dining terrace and an open-sided lounge connect the white volumes to the garden. Timber, woven textures and flashes of colour bring warmth to the sequence.

I photographed the house from daylight into twilight to show how these shared spaces change in character.
