Born in Mozambique, one of the world’s most resource-rich yet economically challenged countries, my work is deeply connected to ideas of survival, resilience, and the invisible battles carried by individuals and communities — something we all face no matter where we come from. This series explores the struggles we face as human beings — the internal conflicts within ourselves, the tensions in our relationships, and the constant negotiation between endurance and surrender.Using coffee-stained paper and charcoal, I work with raw, organic materials that hold traces of transformation. The coffee becomes a stain, a memory, a mark left on the paper. The charcoal, a material historically connected to fire, survival, and human effort, becomes both a tool of creation and a symbol of destruction and renewal.Through the process I create figures and compositions that embody the act of wrestling with oneself. Each mark represents a battle, a decision or a moment of resistance. The works ask: when life challenges us, who becomes our fighter? Is it ourselves? The people around us? The strength we find within? Or do we choose to stop fighting? This series is a reflection of choice. It explores the human instinct to continue, to transform pain into strength, and to find dignity within the process of becoming. by @naciahh

Working on paper has changed the way I think about imperfection.Paper is fragile — it bends, scratches, tears, absorbs, resists. When I work, the surface carries every gesture and every accident with it. Tape marks remain, edges become worn, layers shift. Over time, I realized these marks were not distractions from the artwork, but part of its history. That is why I choose to frame my works this way — not hiding them behind clean white borders or presenting them as something perfect, because they are not. These works are not canvas. They are paper. I want people to experience them honestly, exactly as they exist after the process of making them. The scratches, tears, tape marks, and imperfect edges are all evidence of process, gesture, and touch. They belong to the piece just as much as the image itself does. by @naciahh

My latest work is my first mix of paint and charcoal, where I tried to find emotion not in expression, but in movement — in the blur of a passing moment, in what’s felt rather than seen… can’t wait to share the full story by @naciahh
