I spent 7 years in school preparing for a career I thought I was “supposed” to have.
Healthcare felt safe. Respectable. The path my family wanted for me.
So I did it. I worked long days, built a clinic, and did everything “right.”
But I was exhausted… and deep down, I knew it wasn’t my life’s work.

Last week I found a journal entry from 2019 that said:
“My dream life is waking up and working from home on my own online business.”
I wrote that before I even knew what entrepreneurship really meant.

Somehow, my future self already knew.

Today I’m a licensed financial broker and GTA Realtor®, building a business from home with the freedom and flexibility I always dreamed of — and the chance to grow a family one day.

This past year has been so eye-opening. I can confidently say I’ve done more personal growth in the last 12 months than ever before. I never really thought of myself as a strong person, but looking back, I’ve gotten through things many people never have to face.

One of the biggest shifts for me was finally choosing a career path that makes ME happy. After spending most of my adult life worried about what everyone else wanted for me, taking a leap into something new in my 30s was terrifying but so worth it. I now have the flexibility I’ve always wanted, and I get to help families with some of the biggest decisions of their lives, from buying or selling a home to building their wealth and their future. That alone has been such a blessing.

Another huge part of my journey this year was navigating infertility. It’s something you truly can’t understand unless you’ve been through it. What has helped me most is trusting God’s plan and reminding myself that everything happens for a reason.

Always keep an emergency stash. I keep treats hidden under the couch for a reason. 🦴

Humans should aim for 3–6 months of expenses set aside somewhere safe and easy to reach, like a high-interest savings account. Not in chequing where it gets spent, and not in investments that could drop right when you need them.
Because the vet bill, the car repair, the surprise job change… they never send a calendar invite. 🙄
