❤️ FUNK FOREVER ❤️

At my class we rarely dance in straight lines. We use the cypher (circle) or play around with direction in the space we have. Facing each other, not mirrors.

I'm teaching hip hop rhythms here (Bounce, rock) but what they don't know is it's also teaching them social skills, building confidence and awareness of their bodies ✌🏽

If you wanna check my Dumbarton classes there are spaces on Tuesday and Thursday night.

🎧 This week we did something a little bit different 🎧

One of the participants had an idea a few weeks ago about 2 songs that might blend well together in a mix and asked me to mash them up. So I brought the laptop and controller and showed them how it was done rather than just bringing the finished track 🎶

They learned about BPM, tried out basic skills on the controller and learned who invented the scratch (Grand Wizard Theodore by accident in the 70s).

My classes are primarily movement focused but when young people come with ideas or interests then we dig a bit deeper into the culture ✌🏽

🪩🙌🏽 Just about made it by the skin of my teeth with a September edition! I was planning G-Funk but wasn't feeling that vibe today so some disco-funk is on offer.

Once again it's no perfection, one-take sets with no post-editing (ain't nobody got time for that!) and I stumbled about halfway due to concentration levels being zero 🤣

Enjoy some feel-good funk and disco vibes! Link in bioooo

Something new from me 🎧🎶 wee 90s soulful house mix.

I really enjoyed myself making it and I'm past the point of perfection so there may be some dodgy bits 🤣

It reminds me of being wee and dancing to TOTP on a Friday night. I've heard a lot of these songs over the last few months, seems music just isn't made the same these days. (I sound like an old fart).

I always struggle with consistency in my practice so I'm going to make a new mix every month, maybe, if I don't get too busy 🤔 🤣
