Former martial arts trickster from Milan, Italy. This is a page with some of my old training shenanigans, spoofs and nudity.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I haven't been posting for a long while and informing you that I've joined the Zercher bandwagon seems like a good excuse to do so.

It's an easy 80 kilograms, my bodyweight. As you can probably tell, I'm still working on getting comfortable with loading the movement. The legs themselves could lift a lot more, but the upper spinal erectors are the limiting factor: which is exactly why I included it in my training together with a bunch of other stuff and wish I had done it sooner.

See, when I quit tricking a year ago after struggling with it for much longer than I should have, it didn't solve my pains. Nor did regressing many of my lifts I thought might have been offending factors. I had zero improvement whatsoever. My back kept hurting, my hips kept hurting, my neck kept hurting. Until I had the insight the problem might not have been what I was doing, but rather what I was NOT doing.

So, having nothing to lose, I decided to try everything in the book. And this exercise, together with overhead pressing (which I had seriously neglected for the stupid reason that it was redundant for my front delts) and some Y raises, exposed the weakness of my lower traps/upper erectors/serratus anterior area. Combining them with a good amount of neck training, which I'm absolutely loving, has lead to some serious relief in my whole scapular region.

There's more. I'll keep you posted. by @nadiatricks

I've seen no barber in years, but for once I let myself get preened by @elisa.costy's little dove Polly, who skillfully removed every parasite from my beard.

She was found just a few days old on the balcony and hand-risen to adulthood, while being free to roam outside as soon as she learned how to fly. Very affectionate towards people, yet somehow still able to mingle with other doves in the area.

While gradually becoming more autonomous, she started coming back home less frequently, until one day she stopped coming completely.

We hope it was because she found a flock to hang out with. ❤️ by @nadiatricks

Twenty years ago I saw a video of @jujimufu doing an aerial on a field, immediately thought “OH MY GOD, I WANNA DO THAT TOO!” and fell in love with tricking.

The time it took me just to land that basic trick, though, made clear right from the beginning that my love was unreciprocated. I was stiff, clumsy, extremely fearful, and the years of martial arts seemed to be hindering me rather then helping. Even when I eventually decided to leave the dojo, I never managed to learn more than one or two new tricks per year. Tricks I often lost and then had to relearn as my bodyweight went from 58 kilograms to 82.

Undoubtely, I was a talented bodybuilder more than I was a talented trickster. I periodized my training as best I could, but my body eventually started to take its toll. I had my first spinal surgery in 2016. Got back and then had another in 2019. And just when I had finished rehab, I was taken away from practice for nearly two years because of the draconian measures my country adopted towards Covid.

I've been desperately trying to get back since, but couldn't even recover the few tricks I used to have. I would train for three months, get injured and stop for two, then repeat. Each time a little worse. And now, while grinding my wheels in near constant pain, met by the possibility of a third surgery, I can't but face the fact that my journey with tricking is over. It's long been over. In order to get anywhere with it, I should have prioritized it way sooner than I had, while completely foregoing bodybuilding.

But alas, it's useless to dwell on what could have been. As my best friend and former champion @andre_co90 eloquently put it, right now I'd better stop chipping away my life savings hoping to win a lottery. Tricking never was and never will be my thing. No matter how much I love it. No matter how long I wanted to identify as a trickster. I barely passed in my prime and now I don't pass anymore.

To be able to still do cartwheels and rolls another twenty years from now is more important than to feel like I still belong in a place I wasn't worthy of to begin with, so I'll work towards that instead.

I am now a former martial arts trickster. by @nadiatricks

What's this? A puny 100 kg squat, lol!

But it's still something I feel like having a little celebration for. Even though in the old days I used to do a lot more, ever since my spinal fusion the idea of putting such weight pressing down on my back was a huge, huge mental block.

I had plenty good alternatives for leg training, so there was no absolute need for me to get back into squatting… until recently I decided to pursue a personal training career more seriously, and I just wouldn't let myself being unable to perform a basic esercise I teach with at least a weight that a beginner with some serious aspirations could consider a goal.

I wasn't able to do it myself, though. My anatomy had changed, my old stance stopped working and trying to find a new one made me paranoid about the slightest mistake that could hurt my back. That got me going so overboard with silly adjustments that nothing in the move felt natural anymore and I'd just exhaust my mind every session way before I reached any weight that was at least a little bit challenging for my legs.

I gotta thank @rickyangelini for helping me out. He has much more experience than me as a teacher and was able to walk me through both my technical problems and my fears in a matter of a month or so. Even though I'm still far from using an actual training weight for my level, and I don't know if I'll decide to push it there, it's really relieving to be able to comfortably squat “something” again without losing my mind in fear that I'd break myself.

We get old, we get hurt. At some point, we gotta make peace with the fact that we won't be as we used to. That's a reality I had to accept pretty young, with two back surgeries by 30 years old. My days of powerlifting goals are long over, maybe also my days of tricking if injuries keep plaguing me, but that does not mean my days as an athlete and a generally active person have to be over altogether.

Wish me luck! by @nadiatricks

Trying to work the kinks of my human flag 'dynamically', dropping and rising my lower leg to alter the tension.

Still some things to correct: the upper arm not locking out completely and the hips lowering a bit when I close the legs again after opening them.

But I seem to have overcome my biggest struggle with the skill: falling sideways at nearly every try. Damn, I'm happy that's finally over!

Inspired by a tutorial from @michelle.c.smith, I decided to play a little with my old kung-fu sword and learn a new flow after many years of not training with weapons.

I felt rusty and uncoordinated, but had fun. Thanks, ma'am!

I don't suppose you take 9 shits a day, so here are some suggestions on what to do with all the toilet paper you're hoarding.

Turn your sound on to notice the irony of all the toilets being flushed in the building meanwhile!

Slooowly re-learning how to squat with baby weights, 2 months after my back surgery.

My days of grinding for the next powerlifting PR are over, but I'm positive I'll be able to maintain the motor pattern and keep my legs in good shape even without maxing out on squats.
