No matter what has happened, and regardless of what the future holds for me, wearing the protea on my chest is an honor and a privilege.

This weekend, I received my second national cap as a South African bodybuilder. 5 years ago I was battling obesity, self sabotage, and a pretty dark place.

The last week has been extremely challenging. Life has thrown some hectic events my way, and I felt broken on more days than I'd like to admit. Regardless, I stood on our national stage this weekend amongst quality athletes, placed top 10, and received my cap.

To my dearest Fish,

Looking at you today in your KES blazer, standing so tall and proud at your Valediction, my heart is overflowing in a way words can barely hold.

When I started working at King Edward VII School, I knew I was stepping into a new chapter, but I never could have guessed the priceless gift waiting for me. I didn’t just walk into a job… I inherited a second son.

From the moment you walked into our lives, you became a brother to James and an absolute light in our lives. Watching the bond between you two grow, and seeing the incredible young man you are every single day, has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

You are known to the world as Kungawo, but to us, you will always be Fish. Every time I say that name, I think of your mom, who I know loved you beyond measure and called you her “little fishy” when you were small. Losing her when you were so young is a heartbreak no boy should ever have to carry, but Fish, the way you carry her love, her grace, and her spirit is breathtaking.

I know with every fiber of my being that she was standing right there beside us today, looking at her little fishy with unimaginable pride.

I also know today brought a bit of heartache. But remember what I told you earlier today… the things we don’t achieve in life are simply gentle pushes toward a different, better path meant just for us.

No trophy, award, or piece of hardware will ever define who you are. What defines you is your integrity, your heart, your resilience, and the character you display every single day. That is what people will remember, and that is what makes you extraordinary.

Today is a milestone we celebrate with so much love in our hearts. As this chapter closes, the most important test of this journey is right in front of you. As you prepare for these final exams, give them everything you’ve got. Stay focused, work hard, and finish this race with the strength and determination you’ve shown your whole life.

We are in your corner my boy, today and always.

WE ARE GOING TO SPAIN! 🇿🇦✨🇪🇸

It’s official… the dream is alive, and I am heading to the IFBB Semi-Pro World Championships in Santa Susanna, Spain, to stand on the world stage on 01 November 2026. 🏆🇿🇦

When you pour your heart, sweat, and discipline into something, doors open. Standing at the top of the podium on home soil was just the beginning of a dream, and I can’t wait to step onto that international stage.

Self-funding an international athletic campaign takes a village, and I am still actively pushing my fundraising campaign to cover all my travel, registration, and competition costs. Every bit of support, every share, and every donation makes a massive difference in getting me across that finish line.

My name was never yours to carry… 🖤

I am proud to announce that I have been selected to compete at the 2026 IFBB Semi-Pro World Championships in Spain. After three long years of many ups and downs, I have fought my way back to the world stage.

This time as a semi-pro bikini athlete.

But before I am an athlete, I am a mom.

Before I am an athlete, I am a wife.

Before I am an athlete, I am a friend.

Before I am an athlete, I am a teacher.

And somewhere in between those worlds, I am also learning to be an athlete.

For a long time, I wondered whether it was possible to give my best to all of these worlds I exist in. I’m learning that it is. It may not always be easy, and it isn’t perfect, but with the right support, determination and a little faith, we can exist in more than one.

This journey has taught me that you don’t have to choose just one version of yourself. You can be a mother, a wife, a professional, and still chase something that sets your soul on fire.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to step onto that stage again. Not because the journey has been perfect, but because I never stopped believing that I could find my way back. I just didn’t know it would happen so soon.

A huge thank you to @ifbb_semipro_south_africa for providing us with the opportunity to compete at this prestigious event.

I am still trying to find the words, because the second they called my name, the weight of everything just hit me at once.

The truth is, this victory was built on a foundation of losing. I have had to fall short more times than I can count. I have had to stand on the sidelines, process the disappointment, swallow my pride, and rebuild from scratch over and over again. Winning doesn’t come from a smooth path, it comes from learning how to lose with grace and choosing to show up anyway.

This medal isn’t just mine. It belongs to @grantvanb75 and James. Everyone sees the final look on stage, but my boys are the ones who stood right by my side in the quiet, unglamorous moments behind closed doors. They carried me through the exhaustion, the tears, the self-doubt, and every single sacrifice over the years.

I wouldn’t be standing on that podium without them.

There’s also a team of amazing humans who have supported me on my journey. To @magicbikinis for my beautiful red showstopper and tan, but more importantly @kathnefdt and @b.barnard_ for being so amazing backstage!

You don’t get what you wish for. You get what you work for. This took me YEARS but today I finally fetched my crown.

I lost track of how many times I came up short, how many times I was told “not yet,” and how many days I had to pick myself up off the floor. But every defeat was just refined fire. Winning isn’t about never falling, it’s about refusing to stay down. And I damn well refuse. I’ve lost enough times to know what it takes to win.

We are living through a national crisis in South Africa, yet women are still expected to smile, work twice as hard, swallow disrespect, and keep quiet when boundaries are broken.

I am grateful for the good men in my life… for my amazing husband, and for the chance to raise a son who will be part of the solution.

But to every man reading this: performative posts mean nothing if you remain silent when your peers cross the line.

Be better. Speak up. We aren’t staying quiet anymore. ✊🏽💜
