I’m a pretty private person but as I lay in my bed not taking the nap I desperately need I had to acknowledge the tears streaming down my face and the emotions overflowing in me out loud to the world. One week ago today my life changed forever and for the better. After enduring over 30hours of labor on Friday, September 6th at 10:18pm I birthed my first child and my partner’s first daughter. The labor was tough and the delivery was dramatic but the entire time I sang “Make Me Over Again” to myself, continued to breath deeply, leaned on my birthing team and prayed to God for strength. At 5lbs 5oz and 19.5cm long my child entered the world wide eyed, fully awake and fearless. She is just as sweet to me outside of the womb as she was while growing inside me. She is so beautiful, strong, curious and resilient. I pray that God and the Ancestors watch over her, guide her father and I down the best paths as we navigate raising her and bless her with a long life filled with love, abundance and happiness.
