WE INVITE YOU TO THE ‘26-‘27 NAFME MUSIC ED PICNIC!!!

This picnic is the perfect opportunity to mingle with music ed peers in grades other than your own. We will have games, a taco bar, and many friends!

Feeling stressed this finals season? Need some help studying, or just need an excuse to get some work done? Join NAfME on Wednesday, April 29th, at Crumble Swain from 3:00-6:00 for some coffee and studying! Drop in, buy a coffee or a treat, and study with us! And make sure to say you’re with NAfME at checkout! Come ask your questions about theory, history, or skills! Feel free to come and use this time to socialize or just get some work done. NAfME at IU is excited to host a masterclass on building independent musicians with Dr. Frank Diaz. The masterclass is aimed at teaching students to think, practice, and play with intention through our rehearsals and in-class structure. This is with the goal of building independent musical thinkers who can think critically about their music-making both in class and in their individual practice. Bring your questions!

NAfME at IU is excited to host a masterclass on student leadership presented by IU bands faculty member and Director of the Marching Hundred, Dr. Tiffany Galus.✨ Incorporating student leadership into your program fosters student independence and empowers students to take ownership over their own experiences and education. Topics to be discussed are: How to teach your students to teach their peers, how to empower students with select administrative duties, and how to create a unified student leadership culture. Hello NAfME! We are excited to start our semester off with a masterclass entitled “Administrative Duties!” presented by IU bands Faculty Dr. Jason Nam. This masterclass will be a crash course on the following: appropriate trip administrative forms to know about before you start teaching, organizing chaperones, liability and responsibility while you are on the trip, organizing busses, etc. There will be time for questions, so this is also a great opportunity to have an open Q&A session with Dr. Nam, who is the instructor for administration of school bands and orchestras, on anything related to administration in your program.
