I read The Ivory Throne by Manu S. Pillai earlier this year, and ever since, I've been curious about Marthanda Varma and his history.
This book gave me a glimpse into who he was. The best thing about this book, according to me, is that the author doesn't portray Marthanda Varma as this benevolent king.
