We all love long, strong nails, but here is the core truth you simply can’t ignore. If you want a flawless result, these are the 10 keys to nail extension mastery:
️⃣ Preparation — Many think prep isn’t the most important step, but it is the literal foundation of the entire extension.
️⃣ Adhesion — Choosing the right primer and base coat is crucial to guarantee 4-5 weeks of wear without lifting.
️⃣ Architecture — Proper apex and structure placement are the keys to a strong retention after the 2nd week.
️⃣ The Apex Rule — The golden rule: the longer the nail, the higher the apex needs to be.
️⃣ Refill Timing — The longer the nails, the more often you need a refill to avoid overloading the free edge and causing painful cracks.
️⃣ Side Walls — Techs often over-file the side walls, which act as the load-bearing walls of the architecture. To narrow the shape, use pinching clamps instead!
️⃣ Lateral Parallels — They must remain perfectly parallel to maintain a sharp, clean structure.
️⃣ Filing out the natural nail — Leaving the natural nail underneath long extensions doesn’t create a strong foundation; it acts as an anchor that warps the architecture as it grows.
