Thanks to Julien for accepting to play with me on this one :) he’s someone I instantly connected with musically, and played my first sets with, under the name Mein Herz. That was 13 years ago and since then, he’s never stopped curating and releasing amazing compilations like Sky Girl (Efficient Space), Peekaboo (The Trilogy Tapes) and more recently READY-ஆ? (Good Morning Tapes), with regular appearances on NTS. His scope is wide, his imagination colourful and he’s one of the most passionate people I know. The first half hour is his - a selection of phantasmagoric post-rock and indie goodies - followed by distorted ambient and washed-out melodies in the second half, from yours truly (with newly-released tracks by CD3, Smerz and Brannten Schnüre 🙏). July 2nd @tonytonijay (@slumberlandrecords , April Magazine) from San Francisco playing a free entry show for us at the @shacklewellarms Opening the night will be @_thegabys_ from Liverpool on Fruit & Flowers and @acolourfulstorm and DJing between bands will be @naima_lite of the Distant Ear show on @voices_radio Free tickets available via Dice for what will be a beautifully hazy lo-fi summer night :) Tony Jay began as a recording project in 2006 and became a live band in 2017, drawing inspiration from failed relationships, lack of sleep, urban blight, a bicycle injury, feline mortality – the list goes on – pairing catchy melodies and hushed vocals with ethereal instrumental tracks. Over the years, the albums have been released by Slumberland, Mt.St.Mtn., Paisley Shirt Records, Galaxy Train, and KiliKiliVilla which cement Tony Jay's status as dejected crooner of the quotidian par excellence. "Michael Ramos has been a fixture of San Francisco’s vibrant indie pop scene, cropping up in Flowertown, Cindy, Sad Eyed Beatniks, and April Magazine all while maintaining his mysterious persona as Tony Jay." – @ravensingstheblues -- The Gabys are a duo made up of Matt Wilkinson and Natasha Bikkul. They write mysterious, eerie bedroom pop from their home in Liverpool. This is Velvet Underground-inspired electric folk music that can roll with 90s New Zealand greats like Dadamah and The Garbage & The Flowers but also has parallels with current San Francisco lo-fi pop moodists like April Magazine and Mister Baby. They have released music with All Gone, Fruits and Flowers, and most recently @acolourfulstorm by @naima_lite
