Biting is his love language 😩 by @nainaaagarwal___02
healing isn’t just knowing why you are the way you are. it’s slowly learning to do things differently, even when the old patterns make more sense to you. ⭐️ a little gold star for the things you do differently, even when nobody notices. which one are you giving yourself a gold star for lately? I’ll go first — mine was saying no without the 10-min explanation. save this as a reminder that progress isn’t always loud, and send it to someone who’s trying too. 🤍 —————————— (therapy, therapy is working, signs of healing, emotional growth, self awareness, personal growth, breaking unhealthy patterns, setting boundaries, people pleasing recovery, emotional regulation, healing journey, mental health awareness, psychology facts, therapy reminders, counselling psychologist, self trust) by @nainaaagarwal___02

Stop the wedding. Until you stop abandoning yourself just to keep someone else. If you treat every boundary as a risk of abandonment, you will keep choosing peace over yourself. This is for the Indian woman who was taught that a good daughter / partner / bahu doesn’t say no. You say yes out of fear, not willingness, and then call it love. In therapy we work on this with boundaries + self-abandonment work: learning when your yes is genuine and when it’s fear of being left. Save this for the next time you want to say no but feel guilty. ________________ #peoplepleasingrecovery #boundariesmatter #indianwomen #therapyindia (people pleasing, boundaries, fear of abandonment, self abandonment, stop abandoning yourself, say no without guilt, Indian women mental health, desi family pressure, wedding pressure India, therapy for women India, anxious attachment, keeping the peace, conditional love, emotional boundaries, ACT therapy) by @nainaaagarwal___02
Things we’re ghosting this October 👻 Some coping mechanisms begin as ways to keep the peace. We learn to be agreeable, avoid conflict, anticipate other people’s needs, or keep ourselves busy because, at some point, these strategies help us navigate difficult situations. But the strategies that help us cope in one environment can follow us into others, even when we no longer need them in the same way. Over time, we may start noticing what they cost us: our ability to trust ourselves, feel connected to others, recognise our needs, or tolerate discomfort. So, let’s take a moment to notice whether any of these patterns show up in our everyday lives. Swipe through, read the captions, and save this post for later. Sometimes, recognising a pattern is the first step towards changing it. —————————— (people pleasing, fear of rejection, overthinking, emotional avoidance, anxious attachment, low self-esteem, difficulty setting boundaries, self abandonment, relationship anxiety, perfectionism, emotional regulation, burnout, people pleasing recovery, self trust, therapy) For a lot of us, this starts early, in homes or relationships where disagreeing meant criticism, guilt, silence, or a fight. We learn that going along keeps things calm and keeps people close. Over time, we start looking for approval even on decisions that are entirely ours. Psychologists sometimes call this self-silencing: holding back your needs and opinions to protect a connection. The cost builds slowly. You lose touch with what you actually want, and your sense of worth starts to depend on whether other people approve. Try this: Practise expressing one low-stakes preference without asking for reassurance afterwards. In ACT, this is a small committed action: making room for the possibility of disapproval while acting in a way that respects your own preferences. The aim isn’t to stop caring what others think; it’s to stop making their approval a prerequisite for every choice. You can take someone else’s opinion seriously without needing their permission to have your own. Intense chemistry can make a connection feel significant very quickly. Maybe your anger isn’t coming from nowhere. When “family values” start meaning adjust, compromise, respect, don’t disagree, think about the family — it’s worth asking: Who gets to be an individual, and who is expected to keep adjusting? For a lot of Indian women, the frustration isn’t simply about wanting to “rebel.” Sometimes it’s what happens when autonomy keeps being treated like selfishness. And maybe that’s why you’re so fucking tired. Family can matter deeply without requiring you to disappear inside it. If this made you rethink what “family values” means, tell me: what does “family values” ask of you? ———————————— [Indian women, family pressure, Indian family dynamics, family values, women and autonomy, female autonomy, setting boundaries with family, family expectations, controlling families, people pleasing, emotional boundaries, women’s mental health, psychology of family dynamics, cultural expectations, intergenerational patterns] by @nainaaagarwal___02
Sometimes the problem isn’t that you don’t know what to do. It’s that the thing you’ve been doing is the only thing you know how to do. Same feeling. Different coping. Different consequences. If you’re tired of reaching for the same unhealthy coping mechanisms every time things get hard, therapy can help you build healthier ways to cope with difficult emotions and break patterns that no longer serve you. Want to work on changing the pattern?
