Our hearts are with the @canadianforces community following the tragic events at CFB Wainwright.

Through our students, alumni, employees and partnerships, NAIT has longstanding connections with military members, veterans and their families across Alberta and Canada. We know this tragedy will be felt deeply by many within our own community.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones, our support to those who are injured and recovering, and our gratitude to the military and civilian emergency responders and health-care professionals caring for those affected.

“Because I was limited on time, I had to think outside the box to take the vision in my mind and actually build it.”

Innovation, hands-on learning, and industry connections were on full display at the Westburne Futures Lab Contest this month.

NAIT students spent three weeks designing and building tabletop-scale homes that demonstrated key electrical concepts. The competition challenged students to apply their technical knowledge, present their ideas, and engage with leaders from across the electrical and technology industries.

Congratulations to grand prize winner George Lekunze, who earned a trip to the Rockwell Automation Fair in Boston this November, and to all award recipients for their outstanding work.

At NAIT, Indigenous student success is about more than reaching graduation. It’s also about having your culture recognized, feeling a sense of belonging and being supported throughout your journey.

NAIT’s Indigenous convocation stoles, known as wîwahowak, carry meaning beyond graduation. From the buffalo and bear shield to the inward-facing design representing a cultural hug, each detail reflects the importance of culture, identity and community.

The stoles are one example of reconcili-action in practice at NAIT, recognizing Indigenous culture and celebrating the people and communities who support student success.

There is an important new step for degree, diploma, and certificate students nearing program completion. Starting with students expected to complete their programs in Fall 2026 and beyond, eligible students must now apply to graduate through MyNAIT (Self Service) to receive their credential and have their parchment mailed.

The first application period opens October 15, 2026, for students expecting to complete their program requirements in Fall 2026.
