Four years ago in September this happened yes the Board of Regents approved my tenure and rank of full professor ! What an honor it still is, and to be the first Muslim woman at my institution with tenure and at full professor rank. And that this is a historically Christian institution is not lost on me. We are truly better when we work together for the good of all humanity, a teaching of all faith traditions

Amazing, two of my students, Bushra and Mahamed receive National fellowship! repost @interfaithinstitute: “We’re super excited to announce two @augsburguniversity students have received a prestigious fellowship from @interfaithamerica which will support current student interfaith activities at Augsburg focused on Cedar Riverside. Bushra Sumrain and alumnus Mahamed Yusuf, the Institute will be supporting the team! It builds on Mahamed’s project when he was Interfaith Fellow in collaboration with Bushra’s leadership!
Read more in Mahamed’s words:
We are so proud to announce to partner with Interfaith America to continue serving the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood!
As student leaders, Bushra Sumrain and l are honored to lead this initiative alongside our advisor, Dr. Najeeba Syeed. Through the Building Interfaith America Grant, we are continuing our community service efforts by providing essential hygiene supplies our neighbors.
This also marks the first grant-funded initiative carried out through Action in Community Transformation (ACT), a student organization at Augsburg University led by Bushra Sumrain and advised by Dr. Najeeba Syeed. ACT was formed in response to a shared desire among Augsburg students to become more involved in community service and create meaningful opportunities to support our neighbors.
This project reflects our ongoing commitment to community service, interfaith collaboration, and meeting our neighbors’ needs with dignity and compassion. We look forward to partnering with Augsburg University departments, local organizations, and places of worship to strengthen community relationships and expand our collective impact across Cedar-Riverside.
We are excited to continue this work and build on the partnerships that make community-driven change possible!” by @najeebapoet
