an open mic and co-creative space that celebrates vulnerability and reclaims art as a spiritual and healing practice. curated + hosted by @oneofacat.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

my next naked event is at @byasleon on friday, october 9th.

it’s hard to put what @naked.mic is into words. what i usually say is it’s an open mic night that reclaims art as a spiritual and healing practice. it’s a space for community to practice vulnerability, intimacy, and curiosity with one another.

i think it more than that though — something felt in that deep place where words can’t reach. naked. it much ritual than structure, with each one being shaped by the people who attend that night. at least, that’s what i think. if you’ve ever attended — how would you describe naked.?

all art is welcome | link in bio for more info.

due to @oneofacat catching a cold, the next @naked.mic is rescheduled to Saturday December 27th. i apologize for any inconvenience. please contact @oneofacat or @naked.mic for any refunds.

we’ll be releasing all that no longer serves us at the next @naked.mic.

the theme of the night, “over it,” is in honor of this sacred time of darkness & necessary pause that ultimately leads us back to our light.

what within us is still asking to be seen? what have we pushed aside, rushed past, or tried to be over too quickly? what patterns are you finally ready to lay to rest? what are you still holding on to?

as we ready ourselves to receive new, let us first pause to think of the things that must be released to make space for our abundance to flow with ease into our existence.

integrating our shadow is not a detour from our light but rather the pathway to it.

we’ll close this night of release out with healing soundbath by @sacrednesssoundhealing.

Please show up ready to get cozy with community + don’t forget your art (ALL ART IS WELCOME—if it can fit thru the door bring it)!

DM @oneofacat + @naked.mic for more info.

Falling on Nov. 23rd, the next naked. is inspired by the sacred, by the sensual, by the sacral chakra—the universal seat of creativity.

The sacral chakra bids us to integrate with our shadows and claim our pleasure, sensuality and creativity. It asks us to strip ourselves of the guilt, the shame, and the fear to make space for what feels good.

Having a sustained practice with our enjoyment and pleasure is not only a revolutionary act rooted in self-nurturance and self-honoring. It is an essential part to any grief practice that can truly sustain us. Our pleasure defies oppression and defines the self in the exploration of what makes it say, “yesss…” so with your consent, please join us as we explore the bounds of our sensuality, and map our pleasure to transform and grow as a collective.

On this special evening, we invite you to wear whatever makes you feel most seen, most felt, and most heard.

Join us this Sunday, Oct. 19th for the next naked. featuring @morghankb as the artist of the night. Here’s a clip of her breathing fire during her offering from our June show hosted at @_not.about.me_.

Instead of a theme, we’ll be doing a pulse check of the community at this naked. Come speak on behalf of your nervous system, your mind, your body, your heart and your spirit. How have they been? How have you been? What’s been supporting you in this time? What have been your rituals of care that have kept you going? What rituals of acknowledgement do you have or need to support you in this time?

Come speak on it, share art on it, and be felt in it.

what is naked.?

naked. is not your typical open mic. it’s “the open mic without a mic”—a curated space of fluidity that celebrates vulnerability, creativity, and community discourse. there’s no mic or stage, and ALL art forms are welcome. it’s a space that reclaims art as a spiritual and healing practice. it’s a place for community to build, practice intimacy, and step outside their comfort zones.

originally created in New Orleans in February 2018, those who attend are invited to be vulnerable, or naked—free from the armor and masks often worn to navigate the world, in a space that asks:

if you could be naked—without judgment—how would you show up, what would you say, what would you share?

For the entirety of fall and winter, join us every third Sunday of the month for @naked.mic at the Futures of Repair Social Dreaming Space by @intelligentmischief. I’m super excited to be given this opportunity to offer community a reason to gather consistently in the months when loneliness, isolation, and seasonal depression peak in the city.
