🧠✨ 7 months post-op Chiari Malformation brain surgery ✨🧠It’s been one of the hardest but most life-changing journeys. I’m so thankful for my neurosurgeon, Srinivas Chivukula, MD + the Kaiser LA Neuro team who helped me through this 🙏🏽To anyone sitting on the fence about surgery I get it, it’s scary. I heard so many horror stories too. But I’m here, still healing, still growing, and nothing like what I lived with before. 1/3 of the tour down… that’s wild. 🥹🤍I’ve been trying to find the words for what this experience has meant to me, and honestly… it’s been such a healing experience.Not because I wasn’t grateful for everything that’s brought me here… but because this season reminded me of parts of myself I didn’t even realize I missed. Growth… Being surrounded by people who love, support, and pour into one another every single day.The connections I’ve made, the conversations we’ve had, and the love that’s filled these weeks have been something I’ll carry with me forever. Like God..🥹One thing I’ve learned is that when God keeps nudging you to do something … just trust have faith. When it doesn’t make sense, when it’s uncomfortable, even when you’re scared. Obedience will take you places comfort never could.I’m so thankful to everyone who believes in me, mentions my name in rooms I’m not in, and has helped open the door. I don’t take any of it lightly. Some journeys are bigger than hair.In 2017, Mr. Carter and I started a hair journey. What followed was nearly a decade of standing appointments, memories, laughter, life transitions, performances, travels around the world, and countless moments priceless and meaningful moments. Watching healthy hair grow and evolve into part of an artist’s visual legacy has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Especially the goat who was known for a Caesar cut and was always Brooklyn fresh! This era of natural hair pushed so many to embrace their hair and transition to more natural styles. Hair has always been more than what we see on the surface. It’s spiritual, It’s identity. It’s expression. It’s history. It’s trust and loyalty. Its sacred. 🙏🏽I’m grateful for every mile traveled, every appointment, every lesson learned, and every opportunity to serve through my gift.As seasons change and new chapters begin, I’m reminded that growth is the purpose. Not just hair growth—but personal growth, spiritual growth, and the courage to evolve into your greatest calling. What God has for you cannot be taken from you.
