A little creative promise to myself! 🌿

Starting this March, I’m beginning a 12-month challenge inspired by nature.
Each month, I’ll create a new design inspired by the flowers and birds of that season.

I recently found in an old 2nd hand bookstore, this beautiful book "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" from Edith Holden, filled with these little drawings of treasures of nature, and it made me realize how much I love observing the quiet changes around me, the colors, the textures, the tiny details we often pass by.

🌻Each month, I’ll design something inspired by this book and by what’s blooming and living around me. You can also expect little glimpses of my process and the story that each month holds!

This is my way of staying connected to nature, practicing my craft while creating with intention, and exploring my own creative voice a little deeper.

During my summer holidays in Greece I try not to spend time in front of the computer (illustrator ect.) so I enjoy drawing and sketching my favourite places and moments!

First time participating in the @summercreativeretreat and it was really a blast!! For the past two weeks I had THE BEST TIME! 🥰 So thank you @thepigeonletters for introducing me to this beautiful creative community and thank you to all these incredible artists who shared their knowledge, love and passion with us!

This event jumped up on my Instagram feed just on time while I was thinking, "I haven't painted for a long time, I feel bad, I have to start again". And this was the push I needed, so thanks again and I can't wait to see you all next time! 🎨🧶🖌️🖍️🫟 by @nalea.stories

July was full of simple summer moments ☀️

Day trips, picnics with friends, celebrating 12 years together, birthdays, good food, reading in the park, and starting a new embroidery project.

I also discovered a new favorite summer treat: oat berry smoothies! 🫐

A lovely month filled with sunshine, creativity, and time with the people I love.

🔅It's summer, it's okay to slow down.

Creativity isn't a race. Your best ideas don't always appear when you're rushing.
Sometimes they bloom during a quiet walk, while reading a book, or simply watching the clouds drift by.

So remember...

You don't have to create every day.
You don't have to chase every trend.
You don't have to compare your pace to anyone else's.

Slow art is still art.
Sometimes the most beautiful ideas grow while you're simply living your life.

Seeing a pattern come to life through mockups is one of my favorite parts of the design process. It transforms simple illustrations into products that can become part of someone's everyday life.

June was a month of creativity, music, and celebrating little milestones. ☀️💙

I learned new ukulele songs, created my first stained glass project, enjoyed concerts and festivals, explored new places around the Netherlands, and enjoyed my time reading and drawing by the pond. One of my proudest moments was earning my Dutch B2 diploma after all the hard work.

Looking back, June was full of new experiences, happy memories, and lots of inspiration.

🐚 Ocean Treasures 🌊

Some of my happiest childhood memories were spent by the sea. And this is my inspiration for my July challenge design!

Growing up in Greece, the beach wasn't just a summer destination, it was part of my everyday life. I loved walking along the shore, collecting seashells, feeling the warm sand beneath my feet, and listening to the gentle rhythm of the waves.

This pattern is inspired by those beautiful moments.

Summer is here... and maybe your creativity has decided to take a little vacation too. ☀️

If you've been feeling uninspired lately, you're not alone. As creatives, we sometimes put so much pressure on ourselves to keep making, posting, and creating that we forget something important:

Inspiration needs space to breathe. When I notice that my creativity is running low, I don't force myself to design. Instead, I step away from my sketchbook and do the things that make me feel alive again.

🎹 I play my piano, ukulele, or ocarina. Music has a way of calming both my mind and my soul.

🏊 I go swimming. Water has always felt like my second home, a place where I can clear my mind while challenging my body.

🌿 I spend time outside. Whether I'm walking through a park, climbing a tree, or simply enjoying the company of animals, nature reminds me to slow down and notice the little things.

🎨 I explore new art mediums and crafts. Sometimes creating without expectations is exactly what I need to spark new ideas.

📚 And of course, nothing calms my mind quite like a good book, carrying me away to other worlds.

I've learned that rest isn't the opposite of creativity, it is part of the creative process.

Some of my favorite ideas don't come while I'm sitting at my desk.
They arrive while I'm living, exploring, listening, moving, and simply enjoying the world around me.

So if your creativity feels quiet this summer, don't rush it.

🌻 Slow down.
🌻 Fill your cup.
🌻 Trust your own rhythm.

Your creativity will find its way back.
