They said it couldn’t be done, but after 16 years of tireless advocacy, all 21 wells across from my childhood home are PERMANENTLY capped!!

I am so incredibly proud to say that the wells I grew up across the street from will never emit toxic fumes into our neighborhood again. My activism started at 9 years old out of pure survival, but it has continued because of the deep love I have for my community.

Growing up, I remember constantly having to rush to close the windows in our apartment to keep out the fumes and toxic emissions. I spent years dreaming of the day I could just breathe. While I don’t live in that exact apartment anymore, that neighborhood will always be home, and this win is for every child still living there today.

LA is still the largest urban oil field in the nation, and the work isn't over—but today, we celebrate.

This win belongs to the frontline community members who showed up to every meeting, called SCAQMD, and testified at City Hall. It belongs to the organizers and organizations who believed in us when others didn't.

This is a dream 16 years in the making -- Si se pudo y se puede más✊🏼🤍🌎 by @nallelicobo

Thank you to the Goldman Environmental Prize (@goldmanprize) for recognizing our work to end urban oil drilling in Los Angeles. ✊🌎

This award is for all frontline communities advocating day to day for their right breathe clean air.

I believe clean air is a basic human right that should not be denied to anyone based on ethnicity. socioeconomic status. zip code. sexuality age. gender.

WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPEN OUR WINDOWS AT HOME

The heartbreaking reality is that millions of Angelenos like myself fight every day for our communities. Over 3.8 million Angelenos live within 1/4 or less to an active or idle oil and gas well in the city of Los Angeles.

This needs to change!!

I call on Governor Newsom (@gavinnewsom) to stop all existing oil and gas production and transition to clean renewable energy for our health, our safety, and our environment.

I am heartbroken by the loss of Dolores Huerta—a fearless civil rights icon, a selfless leader, and a woman I have admired my whole life

Ever since I was a little girl, my mom and grandma taught me about Dolores. They showed me what it meant to dedicate your life to grassroots organizing, farmworkers, and justice for our communities. She gave her entire life over to the service of others, reminding us that true power lives within the people and that grassroots organizing is how we build a better, more just world. Dolores was a force of nature who truly gave every piece of herself to the movement. The world was made infinitely better because she was in it.

As a child, I promised myself I’d meet her one day. I never could have imagined that I’d be blessed to learn from her, work with her, and even share a dance with her.

Receiving the Corazón Award from the Dolores Huerta Foundation in 2023 alongside my family—especially my grandma, who first passed down her legacy to me—was a full-circle moment I will cherish forever.

Dolores taught us that real change is created together, from the ground up. She was a hero to so many, and her impact will echo for generations to come.
Que viva Dolores Huerta. ¡Sí se puede, siempre! 🌹✊🏻 by @nallelicobo

Today is Latina Equal Pay Day! Did you know that Latina women who work full time, year round, and part time earn only 53 cents for every $1 earned by a white male? For full-time, year-round workers, the wage gap is 60 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. This means, on average, that Latina workers stand to lose about 1.2 million over the course of a 40-year career due to the wage gap. These disparities are a clear reflection of the economic hurdles Latinas continue to face. The U.S. Census Bureau is proposing a rule to remove race and ethnicity questions from the 2030 Census, threatening the data we need to fight for pay equity. We must protect these surveys and ensure every voice is counted. Take action by submitting your comment before the November 2, 2026 deadline with @equalpay2dayorg link in bio

The secret is out! I am so excited to share that I have been selected as a 2026 @obamafoundation USA Leader!
Over the next 8 months, I'll be joining leaders from across the country to sharpen our leadership tools, build collective power, and scale systems-level change for our communities.

Deeply honored for this space to learn, reflect, and keep pushing for environmental justice on a national level🌎🤍 by @nallelicobo

This is something I never wanted to write, but my mom was diagnosed with cancer on June 2nd of this year. It’s a fight I am unfortunately very familiar with.

She was diagnosed with an aggressive, rapidly growing cancer, and my family and I are humbly asking for your support and prayers during this time.

Any donation will make a huge difference for us. We are so grateful for everyone who has reached out—every text, homemade meal, and prayer for my mom. It means the world to us.

As you know, my mom is my best friend and the heart of our family. Her cancer may be strong, but she is so much stronger. Cancer picked the wrong woman. ❤️

Fear is temporary, but regret is forever. This Earth Month has been a whirlwind, but more importantly, it’s been a reminder that we are living through a definitive moment in history. We are the first generation to feel the effects of the climate crisis, and the very last with the power to change it.
From the halls of Congress—joining the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition and @saadamer to bridge the gap between policy and frontline communities—to the Sustainable Business & Design Conference at @fitnyc the message is clear: the time for 'business as usual' is over.
I’m leaving this month feeling fueled by the @goldmanprize ceremony. Seeing the first-ever all-female cohort of winners is a testament to the grit required to protect this planet despite every adversity. Whether it’s speaking at @coachella with @globalinheritance on the intersection of climate and health, or advocating for local policy, I am reminded that change happens wherever we show up.
Through the busyness, I also made sure to lead with joy—I went out with friends and got my mom tickets to see her favorite group live, because our happiness is just as worth protecting as our planet🤍
The opportunity to effect change is right here. Let’s get to work. 🌎✨ by @nallelicobo

Who says you can’t talk policy and health at a music festival? 🎡🌵
I had the best time joining @globalinheritance for the panel "A Healthy Planet, a Healthier Future" where I shared my personal story growing up 30ft away from an active oil and gas well. From the health impacts I faced to how we organized as a community and fought tirelessly to get the oil well to permanently close
We are the first generation to experience the climate crisis, but the last with the power to do something about it—so we’re bringing the conversation everywhere
It was a true privilege to share the stage and my story alongside such inspiring changemakers: Supervisor @supervisorperez triple board-certified physician @drjrutland and our moderator, NASA Earth scientist Carmen Blackwood
Thank you @globalinheritance for organizing and holding space for these vital dialogues across both weekends

and a huge thank you for making my birthday wish come true💜 by @nallelicobo
