Kelly Slater has been getting barreled at Pipeline for over 40 years. Larry Haynes has been shooting from the water at Pipe since the 80s and has documented more epic pipeline from the water than anyone in the world.

Huge respect for Larry and his contribution to surfing.💛🙏 We all Love and miss Larry and it will never be the same without him around.

Andy Irons, Japan, 2005. Warmup session before the Quiksilver Pro. Andy was borrowing a board from either Chris Ward or Shane Beschen on the first couple waves before tuning up his Chilli Surfboard. Andy went on to have an epic battle with Kelly Slater in the final. A 14-minute edit of that contest is in our Nalu TV YouTube channel.

We had the Arriflex 2C 35mm camera set up for this warm up and for the contest. Derek shooting and brother Craig as AC. It always sucks thinking Andy is not around anymore. Sincere condolences to his son Axel, his family and close friends.

2003 Hansen Pipe Pro, clip from one of the Hawaii local news stations. Jimi Berlin’s footage was driven from the North Shore into Honolulu and handed to the each of the local news stations to be aired that night.

Jimi did this service for the Hawaii community for decades, and we were all stoked in the 80s and 90s and 2000s when we would see some surfing on the news. The Nalu Film Foundation is stoked to curate the archives of Jimi Berlin.
