Bruce took some casual photos the other morning, in this drawing a couple of his images came together in a riff on 'actual size'. @wolfe.bruce taken in Amiens, Queensland, Australia by @name.erdavis

I Put the figures into this one yesterday, it bring to mind something of the emotion in the book, The Three-Body Problem which evokes the strange energy of a planet under the influence of an erratic orbit. taken in Amiens, Queensland, Australia by @name.erdavis

As part of The Frontage Project, curated by Trevor Moore, my piece Field Work hollowed out the centres of two Indian Hawthorn bushes either side of the entry path into the BIA, bands of coloured string on the surrounding branched arms. The first photo looks onto the fence work of Sally Cox @cartridgepaper.
Other artists in this iteration of the project are Lynne Tidey, Julie Thornton, Linda Back and @penrosebarbara. #brisbaneinstituteofart by @name.erdavis

I'd been pointing my phone out the window on the diagonal, a tilt at the vanishing point of the endless roads we've driven, the upended car came along on the outskirts of Carinda (?) advertising the pub David Bowie filmed the video for Let's Dance. by @name.erdavis

Last week at TarraWarra art museum an exhibition of work looking at the mirage-like quality of Australian - Asian cultural connections in the work of a number of visual artists. Shoes and castings of feet by My Le Thi. Michael Stephenson's map of ocean currents in the Indonesian archepelago in relation to Ian Fairweather's quixotic raft voyage. A long corridor, one side a series of works of Chinese influence by Ian Fairweather and on the opposite wall blurry responses to each by Chinese-Australian John Young. The gallery is designed around the shape of a boat dug into the hillside which adds a certain quality to the currently marooned relationship between this country and its Asian neighbours. by @name.erdavis

The Margaret Preston show again, three oil paintings and a monotype. Stunning use of white in the first two creating a strange space between the literal surface of the painting and its pictorial depth. by @name.erdavis

Two works from the Margaret Preston show on at NGV, an exhaustive tribute to an artist with many sides. The evolution of her still life via Cubism and Australian indigenous influences can be seen in the first image where a vase of flowers becomes an unruly Arcimboldo-like surreal portrait. The second image is of an orchid, the form lifted from an indigenous sand painting. In the show we saw the artist spatialize the scenes she was painting and reconstruct them with a rigorous formal language driven by something that often exceeded the decorous. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @name.erdavis

These are the days of lasers in the jungle

Lasers in the jungle somewhere

Staccato signals and constant information

A loose affiliation of millionaires and billionaires and baby…

I've had this earworm from Boy in the Bubble by Paul Simon the last few days, seems to fit this painting I did in 2018, after a Moholy Nagy photo montage. Acrylic on linen. It's hanging above the TV and sometimes serves as an alternative screen. taken in Amiens, Queensland, Australia by @name.erdavis
