I started reading @elyse_myers memoir, and the way she attempted to quell her anxiety as a kid by placing all decision making power in a magic 8 ball keychain inspired this song 🎱 It’s an attempt to portray worry about the unknown, desperation for answers, and wanting to place responsibility for making choices elsewhere because it feels safer than owning it yourself. As is common, I’m posting this rough recording right after writing the song, because expression doesn’t need to be held back by perfection. Maybe you’ll see me play this with accompaniment at one of my LO-FI Lunch sets coming up on 7/18 and 9/5
