🏔️ Move over, Manali-Leh highway—there’s a new ultimate road trip in town! 🚙💨
Just drove the incredible new Nimmu-Padum-Darcha (NPD) route to Leh, and it is an absolute engineering masterpiece. Spanning 298 km, this historic "third axis" to Ladakh is a game-changer.
✨ The Views: Imagine cruising through plunging, vertical gorges and towering granite walls right alongside the pristine Zanskar River. It is raw, untouched Himalayan beauty at its finest.
🛣️ The Drive: Riding on stretches of buttery-smooth, freshly paved two-lane tarmac in one of the most remote regions on Earth feels completely surreal. (Pro tip: while much of it is beautifully smooth now, be prepared for a few raw, off-road patches where construction is still wrapping up!).
❄️ The Legacy: Here is the wildest part—this new highway cuts straight through the Zanskar gorge, following the exact same route as the legendary winter-only Chadar Trek. The same path where adventurers used to spend 8 days trekking over a frozen river in sub-zero temperatures is now an epic drive.
