been hiding
fighting demons
caught between the waves
sitting in duality
nothing feels the same
but also
so much feels the same
nothing matters
but also
everything matters
at the same
counting all blessings
for the ability to breathe & move
for another day
for grounding
for the simple moments
to come back to
& to find
myself
yet again

what is this life?
what? is this life?
what is this? life.

at some point I would like to share what’s been in my heart and mind lately. it’s been a lot, to say the very least.

but I will leave it with a flashback to this time of stepping away for a moment. to breathe and be away from all of the noise. bc it’s. been. incredibly. noisy.

but here we are, keeping on keeping on. sending love. sending breath. and more moments like this.

we are in a constant ebb and flow of reinventing ourselves. a never-ending cycle of losing ourselves only to come back to self. to what was and will always remain, while coming to terms with what is no longer.

reuniting, recalibrating, rediscovering, redefining.

through the tumultuous waves to the still waters, what a privilege to be on this beautifully messy journey that is life (to say the very least).

Awe & Wonder is this weekend! Hear from choreographer, Nandini Kannan, about her piece and process.

In this piece, Nandini collaborates with environmental scientist and policy expert Dr. Laura Rabinow, whose research centers on PFAS and PFOAs, synthetic chemicals found in alarmingly high and largely unregulated amounts in our drinking water right here in the US. What does it look like to take that research and find it in the body? In movement? In story?

That’s exactly what Nandini does, weaving together the elements of Dr. Rabinow’s findings and exploring them through the lens of Bharatanatyam, blending in contemporary movement to create something entirely her own.

This is Awe & Wonder. And it opens this Saturday.

📅 April 18 | 8PM & April 19 | 3PM
📍 L’Espace Diavolo, Los Angeles

Meet the choreographer! 🌿 Introducing Nandini Kannan.

Nandini Kannan (she/her) is a versatile movement artist and storyteller with nearly three decades of training in Bharatanatyam under Ramya Harishankar of the Arpana Dance Company. Since 2016, she has expanded her practice across dance styles, cross-art collaborations, and community-centred work.

With a Master’s in Public Health, Nandini believes art and science are fundamentally intertwined, and she brings that belief into everything she creates. We are so excited to have her as part of Awe & Wonder! 🌿

Nandini has been in deep conversation with environmental scientist and policy expert Laura Rabinow, letting those dialogues shape and inspire her new work. We can’t wait for you to see what’s emerged.
