Kids listening to read alouds with amazing authors, like @thekathystinson & @barbreidart was fantastic and watching the IBBY Honor Book Awards (yay @erinbowbooks & @jacquillo_ ) was fun, but nothing can compare to an international kidlit limbo line or multiple Annes of Green Gables dancing to Pink Pony Club. @ibbycanada @ibby.international #ibbyworldcongress2026 by @nanforler

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this @offassignment course with @kyomaclear. Kyo sets a tone for experimentation and play while opening up deep discussion about the picture book as the unique and beautiful form it is. Stellar lineup of guest authors: @mattforsythe @shauncytan @pacylin @julie__flett Seems like many are coming back for the second session. Will I see you there? by @nanforler

The Canadian children’s book community has lost their greatest supporter and champion and one of the kindest and most courageous people you could ever know. Seeing Amy up on stage presenting the Amy Mathers Book Award was always a thrill. She lived a life of constant health challenges that seemed so unfair, yet she chose to give back with her Marathon of Books Across Canada to raise money to start an award recognizing the very best Canadian books for teens.
Amy was kind and curious, gentle and sweet, a brave and beautiful soul.
Please consider donating to the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award to continue Amy’s legacy. Link to donate in bio.

A beautiful evening celebrating the life and music of Elton John, as he received the Glenn Gould Prize.
Incredible performances by @officialsarahmclachlan @loonymoonchild @jdutchermusic @dianakrall.
Absolute highlight was Elton spontaneously joining in to sing GoodbyeYellowBrickRoad. Beautiful energy and warmth in that room. by @nanforler

Happy 90th to Canadian children’s book legend, Peter Carver! Peter and his partner Kathy Stinson were a huge part of the early days of picture books in Canada. Peter worked with the Canadian Children’s Book Centre when it first started, became editor at Red Deer, and taught Writing for Children at Mabel’s Fables, the workshop that gave generations of children’s writers their start. I faced my fear of cats (Mabel🐱) for years to be taught by the legendary Peter Carver, and later by Kathy at the @kidsbookcentre. These two have been my mentors and cheerleaders in writing and in life for over 30 years and I am so thankful for them both. ❤️

Fantastic evening at @paradiseonbloor listening to @jonklassen and @macbarnett talk about the art of the picture book. Great to see so many picture book-loving friends, plus the @tundrabooks team, featuring Evan Munday in theme sweater 👁️and socks. Also, we skipped dinner beforehand for food truck sundaes among the cherry blossoms. by @nanforler

I am delighted to share this happy news about our upcoming book, The Many Words of Nelle and Tru.
This story has been bubbling away in my brain for so many years. I have always been fascinated by communities and friends raising each other up and especially the childhood friendship between Harper Lee and Truman Capote.
I am thrilled to be partnering with @lamartina.art whose illustrations are filled with joy.
Thanks to my wonderful agent, Hilary McMahon at @westwoodcreativeartists for her unwavering faith in me and Lee Wade at @randomhousestudio for believing in this story.
Thank you, Martina for creating the illustration for this announcement!

An inspiring night for the arts in 🇨🇦 at the Junos - inclusive, diverse, and joyful. Canadiana moment of the night and the dream performance I never imagined I’d see: PM Mark Carney presenting Joni Mitchell with the lifetime achievement award and then hearing this beautiful legend sing with Sarah McLachlan and others.
In true Nan and Kevin style, we got the tickets just hours before the show and gave up dinner to watch the red carpet. So fun!

Favourite Bookstores Chapter 3 🇨🇦: Parkette in Hamilton is a gem of a shop with THE BEST curated selection of unique and gorgeous picture books and other cutie-pie stuff for kids. I bought lots of cool books and gifts. They even carry SHELF magazine - a favourite of all who are picture book obsessed. Can’t wait to go back!
