Welcome to the crew, Nanika! 🤙

Ana Fé Santos, better known in the surf community as Nanika, is one of Portugal’s longest-standing surf photographers. Based on the Costa da Caparica, she has spent decades documenting the sport and its community through her lens.

Connected to surfing since the age of 11, Ana found her own way to “ride waves” behind the camera. Self-taught and driven by intuition, she turned a lifelong passion into a profession, photographing surf more seriously since 2002. For many years, she was one of the only photographers regularly documenting surfing along the Costa da Caparica and other Portuguese surf spots.

Although she still enjoys catching the occasional wave, it’s through photography that she feels most connected to the ocean.

What she loves most is capturing the movement, the power of the waves, and the freedom that surfers and bodyboarders express in the water. As she puts it, ”Surf photography is my way of surfing.”

Ana works with Canon and Sony cameras, as well as GoPro and Fujifilm equipment for water photography, adapting her gear to every session to capture authentic moments both from the beach and in the lineup.

Bem-vinda à crew, Nanika! 🤙

Ana Fé Santos, mais conhecida no meio do surf como Nanika, é uma das fotógrafas de surf com maior trajetória em Portugal. Baseada na Costa da Caparica, passou décadas a documentar o surf e a sua comunidade através da sua lente.

Ligada ao surf desde os 11 anos, Ana encontrou a sua própria forma de “surfar” através da fotografia. Autodidata e guiada pela intuição, transformou uma paixão de toda a vida numa profissão, dedicando-se à fotografia de surf de forma mais consistente desde 2002. Durante muitos anos, foi uma das únicas fotógrafas a registar regularmente o surf na Costa da Caparica e noutros picos portugueses.

Embora ainda goste de apanhar umas espumas de vez em quando, é através da fotografia que sente a maior ligação ao oceano.

Como ela própria diz: “A fotografia de surf é a minha forma de surfar.”
