Thus concludes a very cool very big summer. Worked hard, rocked harder.

Forever grateful to @biffy_clyro fam and crew, to @maidmento for guarding my stage aura with his life, to my employer for being legendary beyond words, and to the friends whose ears I bent in various attempts to keep my mind in one piece throughout a zero-downtime chapter. Time for me to stick the kettle on for every single one of you.❤️‍🔥 MTFB.

Yesterday whilst hanging out in the coffee shop I go to every day, @naomimac walked in and ordered a coffee. I instantly recognised her as the current stand in bass player for @biffy_clyro as I had seen them a few months prior in Aberdeen. Obviously, as I’m a big Biffy fan, I nerded out for a couple of minutes.

After meeting Naomi I shot her a quick message saying that I was gutted I wasn’t going to be at the show, but I’d love to catch up with her to get her portrait if she was interested. Not only did she agree to meet me for a portrait but also sorted me out with guest list for the show - which I took my mum to and we had a lovely time.

After speaking with Naomi for ten minutes, I was surprised to learn that she actually had heard of my work before and had been tattooed by a few people I know. Including @helenskullduggery & @yallerybrowntattoo - obviously a woman of impeccable taste in tattooing.

I’ve not taken portraits in a little while this year and this was a great way to break back into it. The chat I had with Naomi although quick, covered all sorts of topics in art and life. Including how it feels to adjust to touring with a band she had been a fan of for years. It blows my mind that someone could just one day wake up and adjust to playing stadiums with one of the biggest Brittish rock bands. That being said - Naomi seemed like a pretty strong character to me - some people are just designed for the pressure. Also, she obviously killed it, the whole show was as impressive as ever. If you haven’t seen Biffy before you really need to.

Naomi - thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and chat with me and take some photos. You absolutely never know what the day has planned for you. All the love.
