An Autumn colour visit to Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming especially to see the acers in all their glory. Absolutely beautiful. Since our last visit in the Spring the new visitor centre has opened with much nicer loos, shop and cafe. A little rain on the way home after a pub lunch in Hascombe brought a rainbow. All in all a super day.

A quick walk around the river this morning. Nice to see blue skies again. Loved the dog water bowls (last pic) although they do need the leaves removing 🍁🍂🍃🪵.

A Friday afternoon trip to Birdworld with family. It’s been over 50 years since my last visit. Lots of indoor and outdoor play for kids of all ages and wonderful birds. Penguin feeding time is worth visiting. The wolf whistling African Greys were very entertaining too.
Ordering coffee and food is a whole other experience, no humans involved, two different online systems and it’s a laborious process without Apple Pay.

I had a lovely warm solo walk around the Broadwater Lake and back along the Thames this afternoon. I see the lonely black swan now has a friend or mate which makes me happy! The seasonal fungi are starting and I look forward to some more fungi forays soon (only to look rather than pick).
Unfortunately there was a lot of fly tipping on the second leg of the walk so I’m hoping to get that cleared by the council as it’s on a fast moving road with no footpaths.

Lil’ Ted popped by this morning. He’s very occasional in his visits these days. His winter coat and brush are coming in. He got a breakfast beaten egg and some soft dog food as he can’t chew as well as he used to.

A very misty morning but a visit from little Teddy who has been away on foxy business for a couple of weeks. He’s looking well and bushy tailed. Not too old to chase a magpie either though I’ve never seen him catch one.

Charlie likes his new scratch mat/bed. He eventually scratched a big hole in his last cardboard scratcher but it did last about 18 months which given the size of his claws is amazing. His nickname is Edward Scissorhands! ✂️✂️

No filter required. Just caught a fleeting sunset sky over the house. Nature paints the best pictures.

A short stop on our way home from Devon to Barrington Court to stretch our legs and have a 🫖☕️.
The butterflies were loving the late flowers, the quinces were massive, the Michaelmas daisies were very pretty and there were sheep in the orchard looking for apples. Picture perfect in this soon to be over beautiful weather. They were growing flowers for drying to make Christmas decorations which I like the sound of though let’s get through Autumn first!

Our last full day in Devon was capped off with a beautiful sunset which started off very insipidly but turned into a cracker.
This afternoon we walked over to Soar Mill Cove and then back to Bolberry Down. Earlier in the day we parked at Mill Bay and walked through the woodland up to Gara Rock for a cream tea. Over 20k steps, 8.5 miles in total.
