You weren’t born criticizing your body. So who taught you to?

At some point, we learned what a “beautiful” body was supposed to look like. We learned which curves were acceptable, which parts should be smaller, tighter, smoother, or hidden.

And somewhere along the way, those outside opinions started sounding like our own.

I struggled with my body image for years.

The biggest transformation for me happened when I became more conscious of how I was treating my body — what I was putting into it, how I was speaking to it, and most importantly, how I was looking at it.

I started spending time with my body instead of constantly judging it. Looking at myself in the mirror. Dancing naked. Appreciating every curve, every bit of softness, every inch of me.

And in that process, I learned to love her.

I learned to listen to my body. To notice what makes me feel good and what doesn’t. To nourish myself while still allowing myself to enjoy the things I love — without turning food into guilt or punishment.

I recently heard an example that stayed with me:

If someone kills a cockroach, people barely think twice. If someone kills a butterfly, suddenly it feels cruel.

Same action. Different judgment.

Why?

Because somewhere along the way, we decided one was beautiful and the other wasn’t.

It made me realize how much appearance shapes the way we see things — including ourselves.

But beauty has never been one thing.

What one person overlooks, another admires. What you criticize about yourself could be the exact thing someone else finds beautiful.

So how much of what you’ve been taught to dislike about yourself was ever truly your opinion?

Your body has carried you through every version of yourself. It lets you dance, feel, touch, laugh, love, experience, and simply be here.

It deserves more gratitude than criticism.

Touch your body with love.
Nourish it with love.
Move it with love.

The sanctuary was born from the overflowing love between mother and daughter and from it, deep roots began to grow.

Because being a mother is also about inspiring, welcoming, teaching, and often dreaming together.
