Hey Naples!

We have to apologize! We posted that the 2nd street speed limit was reduced to 20mph in 2022. We were incorrect. Our stretch remains 30mph.

That means our speed cameras will clock you based on this limit, not 20. For those of you that were late to your dinner appointments at Nico’s because of us, please forgive us ❤️

Our neighborhood had a lot of pedestrian activity and lots of kids walking to school. Please pay attention, stay off your phones, and follow the speed limit so we can ALL get to where we need to go safely.

Did you drop, cover, and hang on during today’s Great Shakeout?

At 10:15 today, the kiddos and staff at Naples Bayside practiced just that. We think they nailed it!

We ❤️ that our schools participated in this important drill as well as tested their communication system with the parents today. Did you know? Our principal has drills like this several times a year!

❤️❤️ UPDATE: Our friend has been found ❤️❤️

He has been located and the family is in the process of being reunited.

They would like to thank the community for checking cameras, asking their kids, and helping to search.

The crew at NRG would like to thank YOU. The people who reposted our info. The businesses, realtors, and fellow community groups that spread the word farther than this wee little Insta could go. The strangers that don’t live in Naples but reposted anyway.

We see you ❤️

No matter where we are, the feeling of not knowing where your kid is SUCKS. And in true Long Beach style, you all stepped up for this family.

‼️‼️URGENT ALERT, NAPLES ‼️‼️

Missing Naples teenager.

Went to bed 9:30 pm. Family woke up 6:30 and he was gone on his own accord. Left his school stuff, his bus pass, laptop. Has a fishing pole and possibly a blue Northface backpack.

Jacob is lanky, black hair, brown eyes, about 5’ 5”.
17 years old. Half white, half Filipino.

The crew at NRG is checking cameras so parents and police can piece together his movements on the island.

Please keep a look out or check your cameras. DM or email us with info if you have it. Let’s help out our neighbor.

Hey Naples!

The crew at NRG is grateful for the crew at Public Works for coming out and diverting pooled water from our flooded alleys this morning.

We have a lot going on in our neck of the woods right now. And yes, we all have opinions and thoughts and our 2 cents on solutions.

But we should all agree that this team, led by Mr. Sanchez, is badass. Working on a holiday, cruising Naples to locate and vanquish water foes. 💪

Hey Naples!

Yep. We saw all the posts. Read all the texts. Paid attention to the Alerts.

Naples agrees: Preparing your space, having a plan, and getting your kit ready are key actions to being prepared.

We’ve been asked about different ways to prepare, and Naples Neighborhood Watch is sharing a way some residents are shoring up. These water bags are reusable and roll up into the size of a beach ball, ready to deploy when you need. Our rad neighbor also put up a QR code if you are interested in copying the cool kids. (Campo Walk). ❤️

No matter what you decide to use, make sure to use something! And pay attention to the communications from our local leaders and first responders.

Thank you, Naples Neighborhood Watch, for the tip! Safety and preparedness is in everyone’s lane.

NAPLES SEAWALLS

We understand it’s not quite as exciting as 10 foot waves smashing into our historic boardwalk, and yes, we absolutely feel for our Peninsula neighbors.

But…

The seawalls of Naples are literally failing on 2/3rds of the Islands and there’s no city help in sight.

Broken seawalls mean no more canals (literally), no more holidays, no more trick-or-treating. Make it known, we need help! 🙏

Hey Neighbors!

Speed safety cameras are going up, with one located in Naples.

🚦October is the warning period. If caught going 11 mph over limit, you will get a paper warning.
⚠️ Effective December 7th, actual fines will be going out to those going 11 mph or more over the limit, with tickets ranging from $50-$500. Proceeds go to the city.
🛑 Although not punitive to your DMV driving record, these fines should not be ignored.
🚖 For more information about the program, privacy, camera locations, citations, and diversion programs, visit the City of Long Beach link in our bio/comments.

NOTE: the speed limit on 2nd street is 20 mph. This was reduced in 2023 in an effort to improve safety.

🚨Alert from Neighborhood Watch 🚨

Burglary on Attica. Midnight to 3 am. Suspects entered home, stole wallets and car keys. Took off with the car.

We don’t have much more for ya, but this is your friendly reminder:

- Stay vigilant. Casing of homes can look like someone admiring your garden, someone wearing a utility vest and looking official, or someone ringing your doorbell. If there’s a pattern (not a person…it can be casing done by a team), and/or your spidey senses tingle, it is OKAY to call it in.

Hey neighbors!

We get a lot of cool magazines around here. Check out Long Beach City Lifestyle, a newer mag that features a neighbor on the cover!

We won’t spoil the article for ya. There’s more good stuff in the magazine, so check it out!

As the new president of the NIA, Ben has already approached our group (and others) with a spirit of collaboration.

Instead of challenging our group for being new, having few followers, and not being cool enough, Ben viewed more engagement, ideas, and volunteers as a gift…not a threat. We all live here, you know.

Remember, the crew at NRG doesn’t really like it when one group thinks they run things. We all have a part to play, and we all have a voice, no matter where we decide to spend our time, effort, and money. Ben has committed less clique and more camaraderie, and we are all for it.
