Sonar’s first collaborative single w/ @caffeination_the_artists_label ‘s @narf.beats - Producer, beat maker and artist links up with lyricist and writer/rapper @hueytknewsumn on their first single “Take” where we hear soothing and smooth samples, layered with wincing tellings within and behind witty and compelling lyrics on the ideas of life for the taking.

Huey refers to Robert Zemeckis’ 94’ Oscar award winning film ‘Forrest Gump’ in a comedic like fashion, as he suggests - speaking on his takes, takings as well as what was taken in the process to reach this point.

I ask Narf (producer) some questions to see what his reflection was like around the single.

1 - This is your first and newly installed collaborative single with Sonar - What was the process like working on this single with Huey ?

2 - With time and effort already invested into your craft, what would you say this single highlights the most in the enjoyment of what you do ?

3 - How does this single speak to you ?

4 - What’s it like working with Huey and the Sonar crew ?

5 - See anymore work coming out of the two camps ??

Huey had this to say:

“Yeah I guess it’s this recitation boiled down to the most stupid way possible - just to pay homage to myself in what I call at the time ‘a useful idiot’. So yeah there is this comic relief to it for sure (to myself anyways) but just on reflection, all of what you kind of correctly understood was the wholistic view on ‘life for the taking’;

Just this level of fascination that came to - off the strength of the sample itself.. I haven’t even watched Forrest Gump in years. But I think it’s this this contrasted experience within what takes place in the film as well as what’s digested coming out of it - like of course I have my takes in high and sight but the real gut wrenches is the meta-like survivors remorse. Like a love interest taken and what comes from that taking, is the reception of something that’s just out of your hands you know.. So in cases like that, it does take an idiot to know I guess -

It’s kind of like my romanticism - which I feel does need to be redefined. We may not be smart, but we know what love is.. it’s so fucking stupid I know” by @narf.beats
