my third Bay Bazaar as a resident @safariiicamp !!!! Throughout the bazaar, i kept saying to everyone that the vibes were extra good this time around— bazaar’s are always a good time, but this time the music, the guests, the vendors, the residents, the EVERYTHING!! were just so good and all felt so right. tabling alongside my talented partner in crime @camyotah may have also added to it all :”-)

my favorite reactions to my prints and crafts (this time, magnets made from air dry clay i made last year in an attempt to find some sanity in my first year of solo teaching, that i deco’d after inspiration from a craft picnic with friends) was “AWWWWWW!” from my fellow artists in residence, bazaar guests, and my family and friends.

11. the spot in the documentation department’s area that i moved into!!! still a shared space, but knowing i have a designated spot to return to has done wonders for my mindset at an artist. its hard to explain, but one day soon ill have the words. for now, thank you always to @amalalyousfii and @safarihaidari for the space that they created and cultivated. i am endlessly grateful.

reminiscing about my first classroom :”-) my first year of teaching was crazy to say the least, and im grateful for all the mentors, friends and colleagues who supported me through it all!! on top of that, my students were so gracious and silly and gave me such a fun experience that i cant really begin to explain. on to a new school year, and onto a new classroom as i take on a program at slhs that is very special and close to my heart. i 💌 public arts education !

— said the horror game protagonist who picked up and added these photos to their already full inventory, who may or not meet a bitter, tragic, and mysterious end…

took these on a lil san leandro night out w my baddies @lazybug.png & @st4rfal1 on the first of May! and then made fake polaroids out of them for ani’s bday gift :3

missing summer as winter consumes me shedding skin as my fascia lets me letting the electricity running through my veins ebb and flow and wax and wane. i hope you feel the sun on your skin and the wind at your back, i hope you feel the love of others, i hope you know that you’ll be okay, i hope you find what youre looking for and i hope whats looking for you finds you.

a belated thank you to @monadnyc for curating and hosting such a special show for bay area photographers back in early june!!! it was a delight to see people’s friends, family, and in general, the public show up to take a peek and support local art :3c

waking up
i am always angry
and i am always tired
i don’t quite feel like “me”
but i don’t quite know who “i” am
i wake up

accidentally overexposed film and words from 2021. this set of photos made appearances in 2022 in the “us + you + everything we are and aren’t” installation for @wearechangingkulture “the body and the self” show and the @officialmccberkeley “being trans is the luckiest thing” show!!! and it now lives in my room!!

made in 2021, after being forced inside and away from the constants of work, school, family, friends, personal and nonpersonal projects, the spaces left in their wake were beginning to feel uneasy. i was forced to be alone in my own self, and whatever my own self was. i started to feel like the boundaries of my body were trying so hard to align with the vibrating outline of my being and it wasn’t lining up despite how good i thought life should be feeling. five years removed from it, i wake up anxious as hell, every morning. im back in that same place again. but its a good thing. an incredibly good thing, but it’s scary, to feel the pockets of clarity through the fog of fear. im grateful to say that i have the support in so many ways to put words to it now, i have the wherewithal to sit with myself in the room and be there with myself. to sit and be so uncomfortable and so jealous and so full of contempt for myself for a life that i didn’t get to live for so long, but the reality is that you need to feel things jude, you need to be brave enough to accept yourself and all of the things you are and are not. jude, if you are present, if you are choosing to be in the room you WILL feel emotions. they will be scary, they will feel disgusting, they will not always feel good. but that is what you have to do. if you are WITH others, you WILL feel. it wont always feel good. the absence of emotion is not living. the absence of sadness is not happiness. the absence of emotion is numbness. do things that will make you feel things. and when you feel those things, name them. sit with them. allow yourself to feel them.
