This is what building a global television series looks like. 🇵🇹

This Sunday, I land in Lisbon for a full week supporting Passport Properties in Portugal. That same night, two episodes air back-to-back in prime time on Casa e Cozinha.

Then it’s three days of press, television interviews, podcasts and meetings. On October 7, my interview with SÁBADO, one of Portugal’s major national news magazines, hits newsstands across the country. I’ll meet with our real estate partners in Lisbon, and we’re filming a dinner at Ramiro, the restaurant Anthony Bourdain visited when he came to Lisbon.

Getting a series on television is only the beginning. You have to show up. Support your broadcast partners. Meet the people. Do the interviews. Help the show find its audience.

And it goes beyond television. In Uzès, you know the Duke is home when the flag goes up.

He still lives in the palace, and when he’s in town, you may see him walking through the local market. I love that. Here, history isn’t something you only read about on a plaque. It’s still part of everyday life.

Uzès became my home base while filming the Provence episode of Passport Properties. For a short time, I got to experience what it might actually be like to live here. I met the locals, tasted the food, learned the history and stepped inside some incredible properties.

Passport Properties is my way of bringing you into that experience, so you can see these places as I see them and feel like a local alongside me.

Sometimes the simplest photos are the most powerful.

These are some of my favorites from Matera.

Tracy and I stayed in the Sassi, the ancient part of Matera where homes, churches, passageways and cisterns were carved directly into the rock. We actually slept in one of the cave dwellings.

People have inhabited this landscape since prehistoric times. When you’re walking through it, you really do feel that history around you.

And the more recent history is just as fascinating. By the 1950s, living conditions had become so difficult that thousands of residents were relocated and much of the Sassi was abandoned. Decades later, it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I’ve traveled extensively throughout Europe, and Matera is one of those places that has stayed with me. The history, the landscape, the people and just walking those streets with Tracy.

I can’t wait to return.

Imagine walking through the front door of a home built 1,700 years ago for a Roman Emperor?

I’m standing inside the Vestibule of Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Croatia, the monumental entrance that once led into Emperor Diocletian’s private apartments.

Built around 300 AD, this wasn’t simply a palace. It was an enormous imperial complex, and what makes it extraordinary today is that Split didn’t just grow around it, the city grew inside it.

Seventeen centuries later, people still live, work, eat and gather within the walls of an emperor’s home.

This is exactly why I created Passport Properties. The properties get us through the door. The history, culture and people are where the real stories begin.
