The Emancipated Run Crew believes in amplifying the voices of black and brown people within the running community.

As we continue to celebrate our runners success and feel incredibly proud of their achievements and what it represents to other black and brown people.

We beyond proud to have four runners who will be participating at the Berlin Marathon this weekend.

We spoke to Natalia about her thoughts about the upcoming Berlin Marathon and this is what he said.

Running a marathon is a privilege earned. As such it is important to me to be part of this emotional 50th Anniversary Marathon Milestone.

Representation always matters when no one & everyone is watching. Putting in the work exceeding limits of your imagination to inspire others is validating. I may not have the runners body but I have the runners heart & determination. I am honored to represent the over 45, Latinas, back of the pack, run/walkers, living with knee reconstruction.

Hope to make myself & others proud as we cross the Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of German reunification when the wall fell almost 35 years ago will be epic as we too become part of History as a Berlin Legends.

We hope Natalia’s achievements and words inspire you to follow in her footsteps. Please share your joy in comments below. by @nat_rose_718

55+, “This Is How Boston Started” - During this morning’s 5-mile Zone 2 run, I found myself reflecting on yesterday’s consult with Nat. For whatever reason, my mind kept coming back to that lunch. Yesterday we spent time talking through architecture development, my mom’s initiative, partnerships and collaborations connected to Cape Town, logistics, and overall strategy. Nothing was announced. No major decisions were made. No finish line was crossed. Just lunch and a conversation…and plenty of whiskey sours for me. 🤣

The good thing about Nat is that no matter how many zeros are on the bill when it’s time to pay, I always leave feeling like I still owe her. And let’s be clear. I’m pretty sure I’m older than Nat by a few pennies. That information has never seemed particularly important to Nat. These conversations aren’t casual.
When I call, I’m usually looking for real help, honest feedback, strategic thinking, and somebody who cares enough to challenge my assumptions. Because I mean business. Somewhere around Mile 3 this morning, a thought hit: This is how Boston started.

- With conversations.
- With questions.
- With people willing to help you think through what comes next.

Maybe that’s why yesterday stayed on my mind. Sometimes the beginning doesn’t look important when you’re standing in it. Charles - P.S. The marathon was visible. The conversations were not. #TheRoadBack #CommunityHealthArchitecture #VeronicaBJenningsInitiative #InvisibleInfrastructure by @nat_rose_718

Today marked the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. A tragedy that shook us to the core yet united us as one. Our hearts will forever remain strong as we remember & honor the lives lost & the everyday hero’s that became legends. Thank you to RWB who provided a unique opportunity that brought us together to pay tribute to the fallen & first responders. Today we climbed 2,200 steps. The approximate number of stairs hero’s ascended to the 110th story of the World Trade Center. May their courage , sacrifices & all the lives lost Never Be Forgotten… #neverforget by @nat_rose_718

Yesterday, we celebrated the legacy of Grete Waitz, a Norwegian marathon legend, trailblazer, & cancer activist who helped pave the way for women in long distance running. She was the first woman in history to break 2:30 in the marathon & remains a celebrated legend. 💪🏃‍♀️

Thanks to NYRR, we had the privilege of racing on the same course where Grete won 5 New York Mini 10K titles & ran the final miles of her 9 New York City Marathon victories.🥇

Yesterday was about honoring a trailblazer, embracing the city I call home, & being surrounded by incredible people who make the miles sweeter.🫶

16 miles. Countless smiles 😃 From Central Park to Roosevelt Island, through the streets of NYC, & ultimately ending in Astoria with delicious food & great company 🤗

Not every run is a great run. Not every day is a good day. But some miles remind you exactly why you keep moving forward. I’m beyond grateful for the people I shared these miles with, the conversations, the laughter, the memories & the moments that make my heart happy 🥰

I run to remember
I run to heal
I run to explore
I run to connect
I run to be free

And yesterday, I felt every bit of that freedom🙌 🏃‍♀️

I’m tired of being used & even more tired of having to chase people for money after doing them a favor.

Folks, I genuinely need your advice!!!

What would you do if a “running influencer” borrowed money from you to attend two out of state marathons, promised to pay you back, & FOUR+ YEARS later you’re still chasing the remaining balance?

I’ve been patient. I’ve been understanding. I’ve accepted payment plans & given more grace than I probably should have. But at some point, understanding becomes enabling & kindness becomes something people feel entitled to exploit.

We run in the same community circles & what makes this especially frustrating is watching this person continue to travel, race, purchase running merch, attend parties, indulge in self care, & otherwise live their life while repeatedly claiming they “don’t have the money” to repay the nearly $600 still owed.

And before anyone says it this is no longer about the $600. It’s about principle. Accountability. Boundaries. And self respect.

I believe in helping people when I can. I believe in giving grace when circumstances genuinely warrant it. But generosity should never be mistaken for weakness,& kindness should never become an open invitation to take advantage of someone.

After four years, my patience has officially worn thin. At what point do you stop extending grace & start enforcing your boundaries?

I’d genuinely appreciate your thoughts & advice. Because I’m tired of chasing & done feeling guilty for expecting someone to simply keep their word & pay back what they owe. What can I do …. by @nat_rose_718

THANK YOU to all those who took a moment to wish me a Happy Birthday !! 🥰 Not every moment around the sun is filled with joy however I am beyond grateful to have my family & amazing people around the world who love me as I am; alittle crazy , a little broken yet all heart with smiles 😬

Today started with hill repeats in Central Park fueling my passion for running. I saw my dear friend Rosemarie @sheroshand for run by huggers who has been my rock since 2009 & ended in laughter & good food in great company with my other sister from another Mr. @chacitygirlnyc 🙌

Another special shot out to @favoritebrunette who worked her plushie magic & made me smile with a Birthday throwback picture which gave me all the warm & fuzzies!! 🥰 Gracias nañita 😘

Grateful for you all, God bless & God Speed 🙌 by @nat_rose_718

Im not an influencer, im not an elite athlete , i barely post on social media & yet here i am compelled to share my thoughts. I have successfully completed the Boston Marathon twice. I am a two-time Six Star Finisher, a Seven Star Finisher all which was achieved within 2 years, and I have completed 24 marathons in just four years, in addition to endurance races well beyond 26.2 miles. Nothing was given to me everything was earned. I say that with pride as a Run-Walk-Run interval Run WALKER!

That is why it is deeply disappointing that a marketing campaign like this was even considered acceptable. It reflects poor sportsmanship and a profound lack of respect for the realities, sacrifices, and personal circumstances athletes endure simply to make it to the start line. Every runner’s journey & ability is different, and no one’s effort should be diminished because of the method they use to cross the finish line.

I’ve been a loyal Nike customer for decades & now I’m questioning why? Would you say such a thing to a para athlete missing a lower limb ? To alienate competitors because of their approach or necessity is both insensitive and disgraceful. @nike @nikerunning , you can and should do better. It is a shame that message was even approved for print, and it raises serious questions about your ethics, judgment, and commitment to the running community you claim to champion. Thank you for removing the add but what’s been seen can’t be unseen. Now Just Do it, how about you publicly apologize and praise all marathon participants with an inclusive billboard !! We are waiting …

Race strong Boston Marathoners , you’re all deserving, your race your pace; 26.2 you got this !!

Also shout out to my run family @milestylers for boldly championing a message which motivates vs alienates. We see you , we are you & we love you all for the love of the sport & for the love of humanity that believes forward is a pace & that the road belongs to everyone!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming of cheering for all the hardwork loaded & the phenomenal race day vibes loading 🎉 🦄🙌 by @nat_rose_718

I don’t post often. But this one matters.
Today I honor Jeff Galloway — a truly gentle, humble, funny soul who changed my life. 🙂‍↔️

Over fifteen years ago I shattered my knee. Months bedridden. Hours that turned into months strapped to a machine just to keep my leg moving. Reconstruction surgery. Constant pain. Limited mobility. A permanent waddle. The kind of injury that steals the athlete & runner you used to be. 😔

Once upon a moon I ran 8-minute miles. After that accident, I thought I’d never run again. But because of Jeff… I do. Through the @gallowaynycrunningclub community, I found one of my tribes. I found permission to move differently. I found belonging. I became proud to toe every start line as a run-walker. 💪 🏃‍♀️

In four years, I went from 0 to 24 marathons by “Jeffing it.” By trusting the science of interval movement. By learning patience. By honoring the body I have, not the one I lost. 👏

Jeff made space for those of us who don’t look fast, don’t move gracefully, don’t fit the mold. He made us feel seen. Included. Capable.🥹

In 2025 I’ll never forget laughing with him before finishing my first Dopey Challenge ; 48.6 miles of grit and gratitude. 🙌

My heart is with his family and the millions he empowered. We were blessed that he believed in us. Run in power, Jeff. Always. 🙏 🕊️ 💐 by @nat_rose_718
