“What is the most important thing in the world? It is the people, it is the people, it is the people!“

This Māori proverb perfectly expresses my current feelings. Visiting home again was a time of realization and healing. You never truly appreciate your blessings until you are away for some time.

I owe my life to those who have been there through everything. Through these people, I learned that community helps lighten each other's burdens, service heals the wounded soul, and an anchor doesn’t remove you from the storm, but keeps you from drifting.

digital postcard or journal entry?

I'm thinking about how this first month of flying has been difficult in terms of loneliness. People constantly surround me, but somehow the connections feel superficial. Still, it's a new lifestyle, and I'm realizing that short-lived connections can be just as meaningful as ones that last for years.

I'm learning from other cultures that it's important to understand what grounds you in this ever-changing world. Take it slow, and don't be shy to say hi to someone new. Who knows, you might meet a Michelin-starred chef from Italy who loves to arctic surf, is a snowboard instructor, and drives wandering souls around Iceland while telling stories of vikings.

I'm jet-lagged and half-asleep writing this, so I hope this gets my point across:

How beautiful it is to be human!

I guess New York can be overstimulating at times. Visiting Iceland reminded me of my time in Mongolia. Both countries have an inexplicable nomadic feel and it makes me so giddy just thinking about it. They have a raw, authentic beauty that is consistently preserved. Maybe I could learn from that and try my best to preserve my own beauty through rest, exercise, worship, and healthy social interactions. taken in Gullfoss Falls, Iceland by @natalie_llo
