Over a week ago, many different generations of the Ohio Light Opera (past and present) gathered together to surprise the ultimate director, mentor, friend, wonderful human, and retiring artistic director @sadlad87 with a concert commemorating his past 36 years with the company.

If you have ever been taught, or directed by Steve Daigle (I got the honor to learn from him at @eastman.school and OLO), you know the kindness, humor, and utter brilliance he brings to any room. He knows how to push you beyond any limit or boundary you’ve ever thought for yourself while still allowing each character to be entirely your own. He encouraged a rare freedom onstage, which makes you in turn strive for the highest quality performance you could give back in return (and if you’re lucky and your performance is good/funny enough, you might get a hearty shoulder laugh out of)

Offstage and outside of the rehearsal space, you won’t find a more caring, hilarious, wonderful human. Some of you know that my time at Eastman was one of the toughest times of my life due to another student and an administration turning its back in my time of need (a story for another day while we aren’t celebrating), but Steve was there as a pillar of strength and safety for me that I honestly couldn’t have gotten through physically or mentally without. And I know that I am just one of many students, colleagues, friends, and family, Steve has gone above and beyond for (and will continue to).

This celebration weekend for Steve was truly a gift for all of us, as well as such a great way to say a huge thank you to the person that changed us all so much. Thank you to @randomguy2803 (and for singing a duet with me) and @laurabmcn for putting this magical concert together, and successfully surprising Steve. Of course I forgot to take a picture with the honoree, and didn’t take enough photos with all of the amazing humans there, but words or photos can’t express how beautiful and amazing this trip was and how wonderful it was meeting new OLO family and catching up with the old was. Till we all meet again 💜

There are no small parts, just the honor of being in the shadow of @officialseptemberldavis . And like in “Proof: A New Musical About Love, Loss, and Life; A Revival” says your life is truly just like π (pi) , and it will always be infinite, even if a giant protractor tries to say otherwise. Forever grateful to @natepatten for inviting me to be an “outlier” in this genius’ brilliant “proof” of life. Till we all fly on the “Hindenburg” in the sky once more…

Just trying to survive daily with a little joy while trying to unsubscribe from this terrible timeline, and not feel like we are cooked every 15 minutes. What’s your favorite way to keep a bit of joy in your life and do as Taco Bell says and “Live Más?”

Had a spectacular time at @theplayersnyc celebrating @artlab.productions ‘s “Toast to Broadway” honoring three incredible talents, including my absolute favorite @hennihennisanchez . A true talent, and an even better human, she deserves the world! Congrats to all the winners, and what a beautiful night rejoicing in the arts and the three ridiculously talented artists @alexjgsings , @hennihennisanchez , and @thsesma .
