POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
The first Sunday in 12 weeks that I’m not setting my alarm for 5 AM to wake up and head to my clinical rotation… and let me tell ya, it’s bittersweet!!!

I got so beyond lucky to have had an experience that exceeded everything I’ve spent the last two years imagining.

As I was reflecting tonight on my time in acute care, I wanted to share 12 things I learned along the way:

1. Humor can be medicinal.
2. Attitude impacts EVERYTHING: You can’t always control the circumstances, but you can control the energy.
3. Sometimes the smallest actions make the largest impact.
4. In healthcare, the picture is rarely black and white and there isn’t always a “right” answer.
5. There’s a balance between meeting people where they are challenging them to move forward.
6. Sometimes our most important role as OTs is fostering connection.
7. The best clinicians never stop learning.
8. You can be confident and still not know the answer. Saying “I don’t know, but I’ll find out” isn’t a weakness.
9. Small wins deserve to be celebrated.
10. Who you choose to be your spouse matters. Even more, who you choose to be your friends matters: it’s worth considering who is going to show up for you in your most vulnerable moments.
11. You have to take care of yourself to take care of others.
12. Vulnerability is a super power.

I’m leaving this rotation with so much gratitude—for the patients who trusted me, the therapists who taught me and everyone who supported me while challenging me to step outside my comfort zone.

As a provider I will be a mosaic of the people I’ve learned from. & reflecting on each of the people I’ve worked with the last 12 weeks, that makes me feel like I just might be on the right track. 🩵

The biggest thank you to St. Mary’s & extra special thanks to Stacey, the coolest CI a girl could ever ask for. by @nataliejane.e

Happy Occupational Therapy Month!!! 🥳

As Im counting down the days until I finish my time as a didactic student and head into fieldwork, a season full of excitement and uncertainty, I keep coming back to reflecting on my “why OT!” & I realized, I wanted to share why I love this profession so dearly!

I had the honor of speaking at our Blessing of the Hands ceremony, and these words from my speech, reflect my feelings best (this version with a little clinical love added) !!!

OT is having someone in your corner, always.
It’s advocating for our clients, each other, and ourselves.

It’s sitting with people in their most vulnerable moments, meeting them exactly where they are, and helping them to grow.
It’s helping someone regain independence after a stroke.
It’s turning play into progress .
It’s making it possible for someone to stay in the home they love.

It’s being pushed beyond your comfort zone by people who see your potential before you do.

It’s celebrating the smallest wins… and knowing they’re actually everything.

OT is creating space at the table and then making the entire table bigger.

OT is joy, resilience, & hope in action.

& most importantly, OT is a profession rooted in purpose that I cannot wait to be a part of! by @nataliejane.e

feeling too sappy about growing up to come up with the perfect caption. Just trying to cherish every moment I get to spend pretending to be a kid, and enjoying my family!

as this spring break, which may be my last true “spring break” comes to an end, here’s what I’m feeling:

thankful for @sophieeastone — not just my sister, but my best friend.

grateful for @courteastone & @jaeastone who work so hard to create magical moments for us, and not just at Disney World!!! (Although that’s pretty magical!!)

& endlessly lucky to know the kind of joy @jack.eastone2 brings… which is enough to miss him the WHOLE trip.

Here’s to squeezing every bit of joy out of life & cherishing every moment. & finding a little magic along the way ! ✨🦆🏰♥️ by @nataliejane.e

many of you know soph! & if you do, even in the slightest you know that she is fearless, zealous, passionate, kind, supportive, ambitious, determined, & absolutely hilarious!
& if you know her well, you know the value of her friendship is unmatched!

but, living with soph, I wanted to share some of the things she does behind closed doors, when no one is looking. things that she expects zero recognition for. things that truly highlight the type of person, sister, daughter, and friend that Sophie is.

Sophie is the type of person who:
- spends HOURS crafting shadow boxes for each of of the seniors graduating from first stage this year, making sure each senior’s most significant moments were showcased in a way that allows them to cherish them forever.
- looks up and reads the menu of every restaurant you’re going to in New York to help you figure out how to navigating eating gluten free on vacation for the first time
- gets in the car and drives 5 hours without hesitation when you need a friend most
- stands up for you, even when you’re not in the room
- will take pictures of you for hours until there is one that is just right
- spends time, money, and energy picking out souvenirs to bring home to you from France
- makes sure everyone is invited
- takes the camera from the person taking the group photo so that they can be in one too
- never makes you feel embarrassed for being upset, no matter how stupid the issue
- always shows up for you
- is willing to meet you exactly where you are - throws you a surprise party and makes sure you have the perfect outfit to wear
- makes sure you feel incredibly seen, heard, and valued no matter the circumstances!

these things don’t even scratch the surface of the thoughtfulness I see from Sophie basically every day & I just thought she deserved a little recognition!

Too long didn’t read: if you are fortunate enough to have Sophie in your corner, don’t take that for granted. by @nataliejane.e

I couldn’t help but wonder… is this just a photo dump? Or a love letter to the chaos of a family vacation to the city? And a little bit to myself? by @nataliejane.e
