Market prep! Removing vendor tags. Cleaning. Adding Souki tags. by @natalierathman

The first 24.

Full of light shopping, good food, inside jokes, and spending time in my favorite place in all of London, Kensington Park.

This day has been weighing on me heavily over the last week, not only because I can’t believe that it has been 20 years, but also because of what we have been watching unfold in the Middle East. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
20 years ago as a nation, and a world, we witnessed one of the most horrific days in American history. Thousands of lives were lost. Mothers. Fathers. Brothers. Sisters & Friends. Like many of you, I will never forget. I was 13. My sister & I were getting ready for school when we heard my mom yelling for us to come into her room. There it was on their large black boxy tv. Both towers and the Pentagon had been hit, and the south tower was collapsing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Despite the events, we still went to school that day. It obviously wasn’t a normal day, to be honest 20 years later it’s very blurry. I am sure we had a school wide chapel to pray & I know I discussed it on the playground with my friends. However, one memory stands out most. I remember sitting front row in my 7th grade history class led by our teacher Pastor @randydwolf who had left the tv on for us to watch for the entire class period. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As, I look back on it now as a full grown adult, I love that he did that. I love that he didn’t push to have class as normal because it was not a normal day. He allowed the tragedy of that day, with both its horror & significance to be the priority because this was history in the making. It was an unintentional lesson that when the world stops turning, it’s ok to stop with it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Packing & shipping orders isn’t always this simple. Sometimes it takes multiple refolds & multiple box tries. But I nailed this one! by @natalierathman

✨DAYDREAMING✨ of far-off exotic places. I took this photo (which is now a print) outside of the Serengeti.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was overcast and warm. As we drove through, I noticed this young boy dressed in his Maasai cloak while tending his flock of goats. it was the perfect farewell to our magical time there.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After all of our figurative speedbumps on our personal journey through Tanzania, it is one of the countries I miss most.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are some additional highlights from that trip. You can see more of my available prints at @natalierathmanhome along with tons of other home decor items

I could really go for some tropical water like this again! by @natalierathman

Merry Christmas! I mean Grinchmas... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This Christmas has provided to be pretty entertaining thanks to my munchkins. They loved all of their gifts which included new cashmere sweaters from @nakedcashmere, a couple of toys, and lots of treats, one of which Zanzibar refused to share. Are they spoiled? Yes. Is it undeserved? Absolutely not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The only thing that could have possibly made today any better would have been Brad... but maybe next year! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We hope you and your families have a wonderful day together embracing the spirit of the season. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Now I'm going to get back to celebrating Jesus's birthday! by @natalierathman

Ready for a detox. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How many of you have allowed yourself to be stranded? ...without any connection to the outside world? That's what a good backpacking trip will do for you. Bye, social media. Bye, internet. Bye, phone. Bye, tv. It's just you, maybe your loved ones, and the earth. A reminder of how things used to be at some point in history. A much needed detox from our now hectic world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Obviously, 2020 was a major inconvenience. It did give me the break from our annual Yosemite trip that I needed, but now... now I'm craving it. I'm dying to be detached, stranded in the wilderness, and to embrace challenges that are so obtuse in this century (like that time my dad fell in the creek, his phone got soaked, and naturally we no longer had GPS and had to rely on a map and my intuition). So, Ready. by @natalierathman

GLORIOUS. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This magnificent hyena was right on the side of the road as we made our way into the Serengeti. He was soaking in a nice mud bath, and rather put off by our presence. Shortly, after stopping to say 'hi', he got up and wandered off. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These are the moment I miss. Surprise encounters. by @natalierathman

These faces💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We met this group Maasai boys while driving through Tanzania. They were on their way back to their village after school. Their smiles were contagious, and their curiosity endless.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is part of why I love traveling. Not just what you get to see, but the experiences with the people along the way! These faces are a big part of why I choose to donate 5% of all of my businesses sales to @charitywater - I firmly believe that access to clean water should be a right, not just a privilege. by @natalierathman

It's another crazy week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mondays usually revolve around household chores like scrubbing toilets, picking up dog doo, emptying the fridge, and vacuuming... Then over the next few days I have errands to run, the fireplace is finally getting refinished. That's right. After 3 years, the fireplace will be done! ha. ...and I have to create new rug phots for about 30 Moroccan rugs... I'm sweating just thinking about it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ready or not, here we go! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I honestly can't believe we are into a second election day, and that this election is this close! I woke up with a headache from clenching my teeth while I was sleeping, so you can probably sum up how I'm doing today. haha! by @natalierathman
