Still buzzing from this past weekend !

The Red Bull Dance Your Style Nationals went beyond anything I could have imagined. I’m so proud of the Vancouver dancers, our community, and the general public for coming out and sharing your light. The energy, the passion, the love — truly beyond words.

🙏 Huge thank you to @redbullcanada for having me as a Host and Curator for both the qualifiers and Nationals. And to everyone who shared posts, spread the word, and showed up — you made this what it was.

Special love to my amazing co-host @cazimi_houdini — couldn’t have done it without you!

🏆 Congrats to the two-time winner @humuzza
🔥 Shoutout to the incredibly talented @jamal_ali2000 for holding it down all the way to the finals — so proud of you.

Watching Summer Dance Forever unfold right now, especially the Hip Hop category, has me thinking about my experience there in 2015.

This clip is from the Top 50 round. I ended up making it to Top 16, where I lost — but honestly, making it that far felt like a win.

I went into that battle not knowing anyone, with no expectations and nothing to lose. I just wanted to put myself in the room and see what would happen.

This year, I’ve been seeing so many incredible dancers — dancers with huge names and careers — sharing their apprehension about stepping into the battle. And I totally understand it. The bigger your name becomes, the more there can feel like there is to lose.

But it reminded me:

Do the scary thing.

Go before you feel ready. Put yourself in rooms where you don’t know anyone. Push your limits. You might surprise yourself.

I’m pretty sure I’m still the only female dancer from Canada to make it this far in the Hip Hop category at SDF — although I could be wrong!

So grateful 2015 Natasha was brave enough to just say, fuck it… I’m going.

And to everyone who made Top 16 this year — congratulations! Wishing you all the best. Go dance your asses off and enjoy every second. ❤️ by @natasha_gortex

Ready to take your street dance training to the next level?

Higher Ground is a pre-professional and professional street dance training company for dancers who are serious about growth, artistry, and community. We’re looking for committed dancers with a positive mindset, a strong work ethic, and the hunger to keep improving.

Our training focuses on Hip Hop, Breaking, and Popping, while also exposing dancers to other street styles throughout the season.

As a Higher Ground company member, you’ll be expected to:
• Train consistently and put in work outside of scheduled classes.
• Be actively involved in the street dance community.
• Compete in battles throughout the season (mandatory).
• Represent Higher Ground with positivity, and respect.
• Travel and battle together as a company at the end of the season.

This program is designed for dancers with existing training who are ready to commit to the next stage of their journey. Whether your goal is to become a professional dancer or simply push yourself further than ever before, Higher Ground is a place to grow.

If you’re ready to challenge yourself and become part of something bigger, now is your time.
