It's not every day where I get to witness an organization's depth of dedication to preserving its sacred living traditions in quite the way @lansuchinesegarden does.
.
Not only that, but the way in which it invites intercultural exchange so pivotal for a city where diversity is challenged, is completely uncommon and impressive. A place where the most unique and inimitable of artists from different parts of the world get to belong.

The Bloom Above the Waterline art exhibit in honor of this year's lotus festival has been an entire summer-long event of discovery for me, where I, apart from showing my work in it, had the opportunity to present as well yesterday.
.
At some point I realized that a huge parallel exists between us. In my talk I spoke of my visual cultural inheritance as a type of stewardship in carrying the past forward, what my work is about mostly. The honor of doing this inside a botanical garden beheld and tended carefully and beautifully from an equally ancient culture? A rare moment of belonging to each other. My indebtedness will be forever. 🪷

Special thanks to @waviehaley for endlessly supporting me through every part of my participation with the garden! You're the best ♥️✨ And all my lovely people who showed up, what a joy to see you all there.
