Ever since I remembered my childhood dream of being a @natgeo photographer and bought my first camera, I have been experiencing life so much more. It’s led me to travel to some of the most beautiful places, and have the most amazing encounters with all kinds of animals, big and small. My passion for conservation has grown and I’m striving to capture the beauty of every species that I photograph in the hopes of making other people develop the same passion.

The white-bellied green pigeon , or aobata in Japanese, is a striking species found in forests across Japan. Unlike most pigeons, these birds are known for drinking seawater—a rare behavior that helps them balance minerals in their diet. I photographed these in Oiso, where flocks gather at the coast during summer. A perfect blend of beauty and biology.

Today marks 12 months since I brought my first camera. I’ve learnt and improved so much during this first year and I wanted to share a collage of some of my personal favourite pictures I’ve taken. I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me this past year, every like, comment and message brightens my day.

Leucism occurs in approximately 0.012% of wild barn owl populations across the UK and other European countries.
That means out of every 10,000 barn owls you see, only 1 will be Leucistic!

Meaning that this is a very rare sight.

The very first barn owl I have seen in the wild in my whole life turns out to be leucistic… I think I used up all my luck for the rest of my life 🤯

(Leucism is the complete or partial loss of pigmentation - leading to the animal being fully white or patchy and paler in areas) (different to albinism)

Thank you to @predgenpics for bringing this to my attention; I wouldn’t have even realised otherwise!

I was only able to visit the Carpathian Mountains for a couple of days, but the vast amount of wildlife I saw here was incredible.
Even spotting some amazing birds that I Wasn’t able to get pictures of such as the Eurasian eagle owl.
I can’t wait for my next trip here and I strongly recommend Romania as one of the best places in Europe for wildlife photography!
(I’ll be back next time for wolves😎)

Romania has the largest population of brown bears in Europe (outside of Russia) with around 12000 roaming the Carpathian Mountains
Seeing 7 of them up close in the span of 2 hours is an experience I will never forget

Japans birdlife is often overshadowed by the abundance of awesome mammalian species, but they are well worth taking a closer look.

My main goal when I travelled to Japan was to photograph bears. Whilst chasing my goal I had many chance encounters with some beautiful birds.

Whilst these are not the most famous birds that are often photographed in Japan - I hope there are some species here that you might not have seen before !

(For the Japanese people seeing this - I hope these birds bring you some cheer after your recent exit from the World Cup)

Due to its unique evolutionary history - being cut off from most of the world - New Zealand has such an amazing variety of birds. Coming in all shapes, sizes and colours.
Of course I cannot fit them all onto one slide show, but I hope there are some here that you might not know!
