Splishy and splashy ain't all that, the people you're with are where it's at.

Eddy catches for sharing snacks. Topping up mugs on the coffee raft. Painting nails. Morning dance parties. Carving spoons. Setting up camp at the end of a long day. Rigging dance parties. Tutus, so many tutus.

Each river trip builds upon the last. Memories from the river are always more vivid while I'm back out there. Until next time. Thanks @nolsedu and @nols_tetonvalley for making this trip happen. by @nate.farris

Few people have the opportunity to live outside for two weeks, let alone winter camp, backcountry ski, make good food, drink gallons worth of hot drinks, and thrive in the snow. It's a challenge we opt into and a privilege to have that option. Winter camping is still hard, and luckily, long-format expeditions help level the playing field of expertise. No matter how long you've spent in the outdoors, you'll eventually hit a point where you're the furthest out there you've ever been mentally, physically, or maybe gastrointestinally It won't ever be fun 100% of the time and I don't believe anything worth doing ever is. We're not heading into the middle of nowhere but returning to the somewhere, where growth happens with fewer distractions. Disconnecting from the overconnection, entering into the real and natural world helps return breath, the kind that reguvinates and nurtures. Thanks for listening to my TED talk. by @nate.farris

I rarely carry a camera with planned shots in mind, preferring to shoot organically with as little disruption to the flow of who I'm with, even then it's hard fore to keep my camera out and ready all the time.
I had several shots planned for this day touring around Tetons. Turns out my favorite shot came from this unexpected group, whooping from above, unplanned, just smiles and yipees. It was a wonderful reminder to just keep the camera out and ready. by @nate.farris

A wise friend (@andthehaze) once said, "Big days, no naps". At the time I had no idea it would be the sounding quote for my entire year. Here are some stills from a couple weeks in the Absarokas with @nolsedu. Once again, there were many big days and I took no naps, but lots of maté was consumed, quesadillas made, and lessons taught and learned by students and instructors alike. taken in NOLS Rocky Mountain by @nate.farris

Resume Update:
- Proficient at carrying heavy things... long distances...at a slow pace
- Willing to eat pizza, seriously
- Experience with rapidly filling up memory cards
- Not afraid to ask the hard questions like, "Can I have another quesadilla?" "Will you pass the salt?" or "Do we have any snacks left?"
- I will go above and beyond...to void the warranty of most things I use
- Enjoy taking photos of people doing the things I'm too scared to do
- Stoked to ride in helicopters when available
- Appreciates bad grammar by @nate.farris
